Based upon its reputation, we were disappointed. The interior is somewhat drab, and worse the food was not up to this hotels standards. A first course ceviche was excellent, while an Asian style custard was very thin (it was accompanied by a lobster reduction) and too strong for my taste. Our entrees included an uninspired fish entree and a pork chop... My wife and I had a wonderful meal. We each had the steak with bone marrow. Well done with a beautifully plate that was tasty to the palette and eyes.

In town for a business meeting and a group of us had dinner here. The black cod is their house specialty. Words can't describe how delicious this entree was. Their poke appetizer was also fantastic. Put this restaurant on your list.

The one star Michelin rating catches your attention and seems credible when you consider that this is Hiro Sone of Terra's (Napa Valley) venture into the City. What a big disappointment. Foremost is the awful service. No, it's not just that I happened to run into a particularly bad server. It was clear that the entire staff had no clue... More

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this meal. Period. May have been the best we enjoyed in San Francisco.

Expensive but worth it. I had the cod main dish and for dessert the huckleberry pie - delicious and presentation was great. Service was also very good. I would happily eat there again.

It's become a tradition with me that, whenever I am in San Francisco I like to have one meal in a Michelin Star restaurant. It is always an agonising decision which one to chose and during this trip I went to Ame, a restaurant which specialises in Japanese style food. I must say it was the perfect choice. Before booking... More

i must say i had great expectations from this place. I read some reviews on line and elected to be my michelin-star experience in SF with my Fiancè. First of all the atmosphere was quite ok, too "hotelish" maybe.. we ordered champagne and after 20mins waiting they said it was not cold enough (could say right when you found out..... More

I started my meal with the Salad of Autumn Greens - cold, hard uninteresting. Followed up with Broiled Sake Marinated Black Cod. What a disappointment. Small piece of fish swimming in this salty broth. The shrimp dumplings were more like flat tacos also swimming in the broth. The dish was void of any real flavor and the fish had 5... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
