Nice Michelada and Tasty Tacos

I randomly met a few friends here while traveling for work. It has a sizable bar section and the drink / bar menu was more than respectable. The serving staff was friendly (if a bit overworked). It's very convenient if you'd like to walk by the water, take in a Giants game, or if you need to... read more

This is far from your typical Mexican restaurant. The decor is very nice -- festive and appropriate. The menu has a good variety. I had the carne asade -- it was very flavorful, and the pepper served as a side dish was amazing (as long as you like ultra hot). My wife had the carnitas -- a huge portion and... More

What a great place. Very comfortable for a dress up or casual meal. The Mexican food was authentic and fantastic. The margaritas were awesome. Our service was top shelf, all the staff we encounter were very helpful and truly cared about us as a customer. I will go back for more.

We found this restaurant by chance while exploring the area around AT&T Park prior to an event. We had plenty of time to "waste" and a Mexican tequila bar seemed a great option. I found it odd to pay for chips and salsa as an appetizer but took it in stride for the location. None of the salsas were what... More

Come here for the tequila and the food, but expect to pay a good amount of money. The food was good, but I don't think it's worth it for the money I put down for all of it. Plus I'm not usually a fine dining type of guy anyway. Maybe come here if you go on a date.

I had been here before for a company event and enjoyed the food, so decided to go back with the family one evening while in San Francisco. We saw an empty parking meter opposite the restaurant and parked there. As we walked in we noticed that the restaurant have valet parking ($15 I think). When we came out one of... More

A nice variety of Mexican fare with an assortment of beverages. Highly recommend the Carnitas, a slow roasted pork with salsa and vegetables. Chile Rellenos was tasty with lots of different vegetables. The spicy garlic shrimp was also enjoyed.

This restaurant never disappoints! We go here before every Giants game we watch. The food is dynamite, the location is ideal. One of my favorite dishes is the Carne en su Jugo. It's like a soup or stew and full of flavor. The kids meals are large and priced fairly. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to going... More

Good food, especially the stuffed peppers. Fresh tasting and good portion size. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that charged for chips and salsa. For $4 you get chips and 3 salsas. The salsas were weird and the chips were so-so. Skip this unless you are starving. Service was a little slow. Restaurant atmosphere was nice. It's decorated... More

Know how they say location is everything? As Tres is right by AT&T Park, try not to go when the Giants have just lost a game. Kind of a downer on the atmosphere and energy level. Okay food, not a large selection, and a bit pricey for the end result. Drinks were solidly average -- and not what you'd expect... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
