Description: Nestled in the heart of the Mission District, Range is the creation of husband and wife team, Phil and Cameron West. Since the summer of 2005 Range has welcomed diners into a warm, inviting space furnished with wood floors, zinc table tops, leather banquettes and art deco elements. As the seasons change, the food and cocktail programs follow suit. Chef Phil West’s compact menu offers locally grown and sustainably cultivated ingredients with succinct flavors layered into sophisticated fare. Pastry Chef Michelle Polzine’s thoughtfully hand-crafted desserts provide an innovative yet classic finish to the meal. Specialty cocktails reflect the produce market’s bounty and every day a new cocktail is created by our talented bartending staff. Range’s entire front room and full bar are set aside for diners without reservations to have anything from a quick drink or dessert to a fully coursed meal.

I love Range. It is my local go to restaurant in the Mission area. The food and service is always good. And the prices are decent. I have gone to many other more expensive restaurants and been less impressed and I always come back to Range. I eat at this restaurant at least once every couple of months and considering... More

Party of 4 with our friends Amow and Smoo following a day of wine tasting in Napa Valley. So we weren't over hungry or thirsty. Range did a good job for us though. Good spread of plates and interesting tastes, the English pea salad and the coffee rubbed pork shoulder were both exceptional, I'm told the halibut was good as... More

Good, flavorful food. Nice location. Nice atmosphere. I had fish and a grilled asparagus starter. Bread beforehand is nothing special. I always wonder at these fancy places why they can't have delicious bread. But that was minor. Pricey, but overall, a nice dining experience in SF. Tasty for sure.

Valencia Street is fast becoming one of the culinary centres of San Francisco. We left the Four Seasons at quarter off eight and were at the restaurant in ten minutes. A large bar at the front , a smaller more intimate dining room at the rear. We ate at eight and the place was full of a young, lively crowd... More

Very friendly service in a very busy and beautiful space, but my main takeaway from the experience is waiting a perplexing amount of time for small portions of lukewarm food. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, but I doubt that we will be back.

Range is a small, vibrant corner restaurant in SF's Mission district -- an easy 10-minute taxi ride from downtown / Union Square. The food is creative and beautifully presented -- maybe everything that's lacking at the Union Square tourist-o-mats. The coffee-rubbed pork shoulder is out of this world. Nothing disappointed.

As a frequent visitor to San Francisco, I am always amazed at the number of good, middle of the road restaurants in the city: those with great food, not too fancy and not too expensive. Range is one of these. We went as a party of 6 on a Friday night. We were seated promptly. The restaurant was busy but... More

Started with the pan seared quail - Quail was over done on some parts, under cook on others and on the oily part - need improvements to be good. My friend had the egg noodle pasta with grass fed beef bolognese - delicious the best dish we had, cooked to perfection. For the main dish I had the Ahi -... More

There is a sweet spot between haute and hip, and Range is right there. A recent early dinner there was perfect in every way, from welcome to after-dinner drink. You can spend more (way more) on dinner in San Francisco, but you can't find tastier dishes, a better-chosen wine list, or more excellent service. One thing to know: Range is... More
