Tender coffee rubbed pork shoulder

Before coming to SF we found an article about food that you had to try in the city. One of the things that were mentioned was the coffee rubbed pork shoulder. Fresh unpretentious flavors in a relaxed atmosphere. Came here with 2 local "foodies" and it didn't disappoint. Flavors were well balanced but still creative. Nice wine list focused on CA (of course!).

I've come to this restaurant many times in the last 10 years. This was my first time in 2 years, and overall it was excellent. Service was a little slow at first, but after we got our drinks it proceeded smoothly. Overall, i like it - food is still inventive, they offer a focused menu with carefully constructed entrees and... More

The title says it all. We were a party of seven on a Thursday night. We were shoehorned into a skinny table in the main dining area. There was much inadvertent knee knocking. Service was slow throughout. We were seated at 7:00 pm and finished up at 9:15. The bright spot was the food, which was outstanding.

We went there as a group of friends on a Friday evening. We had booked and showed up on schedule. The table was late. Over 20 minutes late with no excuse really offered, Once we sat down, service did not get any better: took over 15 minutes jus for our waiter to take the first drink order, busser just "threw"... Arrived at Range, a group of us with a four year old and no reservation. They found us a table and made us feel welcome. The food was excellent with great flavours, well balanced and cooked to perfection. Everything including the food, the service, the environment worked together to produce a great meal. Can not wait for a return visit to... More

On a busy convention weekend, I was unable to secure a reservation at the usual touristy places. This was characterized online as a "quiet and consistent" place suitable for grown ups. So after a round of hotel cocktails, we found ourselves eyeing the cocktail menu! It was magnetic, inventive and varied, appealing to the different leanings in our party. The... More

Range has been around a long time, at least by San Francisco standards! We have been dining there since they first opened. We had not been in a while (so many new restaurants to try in our lovely city!) so we went back on Saturday evening. Well, it was just as good as we remembered! Consistency is important in a... We made a reservations for Saturday but I wasn't feeling well and they happily changed it to Sunday during an open time slot. We arrived Sunday at 6:15pm, the front area was still pretty empty and we were seated near the front window. We ordered 2 of their specialty cocktails and both were fantastic! We had the steamed manila clams... More

From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighborhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners.
