Standout meal in the mission

I haven't had a standout meal like this in sf for a while & damn this was good! The chicken entree with walnuts & dates & panzanella was so delicious as was the mocktail that was prepared for me. The trout tasted divine also! All in all a great night out & far more memorable than my first visit... read more

made a reservation a few weeks ago for a Saturday night. it definitely is booked far in advance so plan accordingly. it's crowded and lively. the front bar and tables were jumping. the dining room is pretty small and cramped. and a bit loud, but in a way that's okay because it actually affords some privacy. you sit really close... My friend, who is a local, made the reservation. Perhaps his build-up beforehand set me up for disappointment - the food and service were very good, but just very good - not great. The seasonal ingredients were well-prepared and fresh, and the wine list suited the food offerings. Overall, it was fine, but would not make my top 10 SF... More

We visited Range on a Monday night. Excellent service with a smile. Appetizers consisted of a vey nice beet salad, with a glass of Cremant sparkling wine. Although they were not serving cod, the ahi was excellent. The wine choices are good and priced well. Since we mostly ordered fish, we decided to get a bottle of Loire Cremant and... More

of course the food is great and inventive from appetizer through dessert; the cocktails festive and unique; the ambience lively and fun. But what really separates Range from other great San Francisco restaurants is the friendly attentive service that starts at the front and continues through the meal. not one server or busboy or bartender or hostess wore anything but... Went here on recommendation and to see how a Michelin starred SF restaurant compares to the UK. Excellent range of flavours. My aubergine (eggplant) soup starter was delicious, my wife's apple and spinach salad was also very good, though she felt the cheese let it down slightly. Main courses (halibut and squash) both excellent, with a well balanced combination of... More

The food was great--interesting combinations well prepared and quite beautiful to look at. But the decibel level was astonishing, as we and everyone else around us shouted to be heard over each other. So come to eat well, but if you actually want an intimate conversation, go elsewhere.

I went to Range with a group of friends this past Saturday. We were a pretty diverse group in our tastes and ordered various appetizers and main courses. The caramelized sunchoke pasta was extremely salty and lacked the taste of any of the ingredients listed. The pan seared quail was also fairly mediocre at best. Among the main courses the... More
