Honestly this restaurant is sort of like a hole in the wall in a not so great part of town in the tenderloin, but if you look past that the food is excellent and the staff that works here very accommodating and kind. Its a great place to eat before the symphony, opera or theatre. Not at all pretentious. If... More

We had goi cuon ( fresh spring rolls) , bun bo hue, pho , seafood noodle soup, all well done. The restaurant is nicely decorated for the price of the food. Try the iced coffee and soursop smoothly. The neighbourhood does look a bit scary , park in the paid carpark diagonally opposite the restaurant . It's only about $2.

This place is super authentic! Coming from the hectic Larkin street downtown of San Fran we entered this little Vietnamese buzzy colorful world made out of a small square room wall painted in limegreen and with red paper clothed tables. And mot the leastt; they got an open kitchen in the corner. We ordered veggie curry coconut and tofu sweet... More

...because... it was! Two years ago we travelled through Vietnam. The people in Vietnam were very friendly and helpful. The food, in general, was awesome and mostly good. All this was lacking in Mangosteen. The servant hardly said anything, never asked how the food was, if we wanted anything else. One was not brought to a table but rudely pointed... More

Glad we asked where to go for lunch. A great Vietnamese restaurant. Definitely try the garlic noodle fish fish (25) and the Bun Rieu crab soup.

This restaurant is close to the Civic Center and San Francisco City Hostel. We ordered the Crepe which came with a pile of greens with idea to wrap the crepe in the greens. It was very good. A diner at the next table told us to order #52 - that they are know for it. Everything was very tastey. The... More

The hubs and I were aiming for another restaurant, but had to make a quick change of plans and went with Mangosteen on a whim. It was a very good, genuinely Vietnamese restaurant. The noodle soup that I got was a little bland, but the spicy noodle beef dish that my husband got was super flavorful. The dishes are very... More

Had a delicious dinner before hitting the town. Tamarind tiger shrimp was fantastic. Restaurant is fairly basic inside but staff are friendly and food is great value. Fully recommended.

Across the street from Federal Building, in Little Saigon area of SF. Ate alone, and was there for lunch only, but the eggplant and rice was delicious. I'd go back.
