Location, Location, location!!! We originally booked a different hotel/different location simply because it was less expensive, but after reading a lot of Trip Advisor reviews, thanks to all who share, we chose to be a guest here. In wanting to experience SFO, we wanted a great location, historical beauty/ heritage, and this property has it all. This hotel is beautifully located... More

A beautiful, classy hotel located right in the centre of downtown. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Bar on top floor is a real gem. Nice atmosphere. Def. recommend a visit.

We stayed at the MHIC while visiting our daughter who lives a couple of blocks away from the hotel. The check-in was quick and the staff were always friendly. The hotel is in an excellent location and it's dog friendly, which is perfect since there is a nice little park across the street. The building is beautiful and the view... More

Warm professional welcome from reception at check in, followed by being allocated a room on a high floor overlooking the bay and the bridge. Hotel is well situated for the main areas of the city with convenient public transport links on the doorstep

A grand old hotel, steeped in History. Very comfortable rooms. The Top of The Mark, seemed a little old, but then that is why you are there, history. I had great service and delicious food at the bar There were a lot of people simply having a dry martini just to say they had been there. Enjoyed it very much.

Went twice and was asked to wait both times 30 minutes standing outside the lift in a little crowded area. Went and had a look and didn't look that special so didn't bother. Find another bar for a drink.

After a night on my own dime at the Best Western in Fisherman's Wharf, I moved to my business hotel on Nob Hill. The IC Mark Hopkins is a grand old hotel with an imposing facade. Check-in was curiously slow and complicated but once I got my roomkey I was allowed to go up to the 12th floor myself. I... More

I went with friends for drinks to the above and found the atmosphere and ambiance very unsatisfactory. I ordered Champagne as it was an anniversary it arrived no offer of an ice bucket and bottle left on window ledge. The piano player was so loud conversation was difficult if not impossible. When I mentioned this to the gentleman on the... More

Me and my friend stayed here for a week in our friend's room. We can't speak for the breakfast/general dining facilities, or the gym etc. but we had a superb time. Mega comfortable beds, amazing views - especially at sunset - and superb cleaning staff. The only downside is the concierge was not 100% helpful in our quest to get... More

Mark Hopkins Hotel was aquired in early 2014 by Woodridge Capitol Partners and Oaktree Capital Management Comapny. They plan to invest $20 million on upgrades. I am hoping that will return Mark Hopkins to the grand hotel it used to be. While the views from the top floor of the Mark Hopkins are nice, the room itself was aging out.... More
