After a night on my own dime at the Best Western in Fisherman's Wharf, I moved to my business hotel on Nob Hill. The IC Mark Hopkins is a grand old hotel with an imposing facade. Check-in was curiously slow and complicated but once I got my roomkey I was allowed to go up to the 12th floor myself. I... More

I went with friends for drinks to the above and found the atmosphere and ambiance very unsatisfactory. I ordered Champagne as it was an anniversary it arrived no offer of an ice bucket and bottle left on window ledge. The piano player was so loud conversation was difficult if not impossible. When I mentioned this to the gentleman on the... More

Me and my friend stayed here for a week in our friend's room. We can't speak for the breakfast/general dining facilities, or the gym etc. but we had a superb time. Mega comfortable beds, amazing views - especially at sunset - and superb cleaning staff. The only downside is the concierge was not 100% helpful in our quest to get... More

Mark Hopkins Hotel was aquired in early 2014 by Woodridge Capitol Partners and Oaktree Capital Management Comapny. They plan to invest $20 million on upgrades. I am hoping that will return Mark Hopkins to the grand hotel it used to be. While the views from the top floor of the Mark Hopkins are nice, the room itself was aging out.... More

I've stayed in quite a few five Star hotels, this one hands down the worst customer service and not worth the money. I booked a room for three adults, they shove us in a small king size bed room so now we have a rollaway (extra $30 per day) and someone who has to sleep on the floor, because they... More

Stayed at the Mark Hopkins this week and really enjoyed it. It sits in a commanding position at the top of Nob Hill and if you have a room above the 7th floor or so the views are epic. It's clearly a grand dame of a hotel - it shows some wonderful architectural features. But this is also it's downfall.... More

If you are sick of the modern characterless hotels that a common place around the world, give this a try. Situated on Nob hill this regent old lady has all the lovingly restored character of yesteryear. But with all the modern conviences. Make sure you go for drinks on the 19 th floor, the views are stunning across the bay... More

Having been loyal to mark warner for several years this is the first truly disappointing resort. The staff are lovely and making the best of what they have to work with. Having been to their resort on Rhodes last year this is like 2 star compared to 5 star and more expensive. A coffee is euros 3.50. Watch out for... More

Hotel is nice. The beds are comfortable. The hotel is old, however, and is not the same as some other intercontinental hotels
