Hotel is nice. The beds are comfortable. The hotel is old, however, and is not the same as some other intercontinental hotels

We recently visited the Mark Hopkins on our 35th wedding anniversary trip, and couldn't be more pleased! The staff was exemplary, and the accommodations well suited for this luxury hotel. We had a great room on the upper floors with views of both the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Before we even got settled in, we received a complimentary tray... More

Good points: I was able to book a deluxe king room at well below the SF market rate. When we arrived, they were out of deluxe king rooms so upgraded us to an executive room. Thus, we started out great - incredible price for a 4 star hotel in a great location - plus an upgraded room. The service staff... More

With well-appointed rooms, a convenient location and a reputation for high-end service, this is a hotel where comfort is assured. It comes at a premium price, but is worth it. Parking is criminally expensive, over $50/night, which I should not be charged when I am already paying so much for my room. The Top of the Mark bar is probably... More

I booked a junior suite which cost a fair bit and I was expecting to have a room and an additional lounge with a decent bedsuite in it. My friend had a hip operation so I gave her the bedroom but the lounge had nothing so the staff bought in a roller bed. It was the worst sleep I have... More

My wife and I recently visited San Francisco and stayed at this hotel. The rooms were fine, but paint and decor was a little dated, especially in Top of the Mark. Wonderful views, though! Very expensive, but expected. Expect to either take a cab (or cable car) to get anywhere unless you don't mind walking up and down hills!

One hundred Martinis on the menu. Great view of the city. Great small plates too. Staff was excellent.

I spent three nights here on business before leaving for a real vacation in Hawaii, and my only regret was that my husband couldn't join me during my stay at Mark Hopkins. I found the historic scenery and old-school luxury really romantic and its location out of the way of some of the hustle and bustle you get with other... More

I struggle with giving a 3 to the Mark Hopkins as there are many things they do well and which I like. However, it comes down to the quality of the sleep! The beds were kind of lumpy (body imprint) and the down mattress pad had quills that could be felt through the fabric. The pillows were atrocious .. my... More

Lovely historic hotel, nice rooms, Top of the Mark bar is fun for sunset or city lights. But it's not really near anything like restaurants or shops, any of which are a steep walk away, up or down. Cable car does run right in front, which is great for going downhill but good luck with the waits trying to get... More
