We ma a reservation at this place after seeing it online. We had a big group and the place was accommodating. The wine list was great, and we all had good plates (recommend the burrata if available), but the restaurant was otherwise almost completely empty, and I don't understand why. This place seemed to share a kitchen with the place... More

Vicoletto is a special place in San Francisco. Always excellent with superb service and not gaudy like the traditional Italian restaurants in North Beach. Food is different and unusual. A vast and reasonable wine list.

I am an SF local, but think it is worth reviewing Vicoletto. It is one of my absolute favorites in North Beach. The staff is incredibly friendly and solicitous. Food is fabulous - my favorite appetizer is the buratta - which should be shared as the portion is enormous. The pasta servings are also quite large. I was most recently... More

We shared the Barra appetizer and the mussels. Both delicious. The pork ragu tagliatelle was very satisfying as well. Very pleased and highly recommend

This was our second time to dine here in three weeks. We had searched for a restaurant that we could take our dog so we needed an outdoor table. We enjoyed their pastas and Italian wine list. Service was warm and Ilana remembered us from three weeks prior so it felt like coming home to a warm welcome.

Really excellent food, great service, very friendly. Chef & Mgr sat down with us for a chat. Dinner for 2 (2apps, 2mains, 2desserts - no alcohol) cost $100. No wait! Lovely place. Would visit again.

Good food, good service but the portions could have been bigger. Grabbed a sandwich on the way back to the hotel. Had the lobster ravioli, tasted great, but looked like it could have been an appetizer size. Same with my wife's crab fettuccine. I'd go if you are looking for a light meal, not if you have a man sized... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Great food, menu, and atmosphere. The service was amazing, too.

Well, the service is good but I have a strong feeling my dish was probably frozen and microwaved. The pasta was dry and very chewy. The other dish with pesto sauce was only with pasta and no veggies. I don't think this restaurant will see me back again. It us anything but Italian.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
