The best cannolis

This is where I stop every time I'm in San Francisco to get my cannoli fix. All of the other pastries, cookies, and cakes look delicious, but I can't bring myself to get anything other than a cannoli.

I tried the almond lace cookies and had to go back for more. They were delicious! They are thin and crisp and gluten-free! We actually ordered some to take out along with some chocolate dipped biscotti and a cannoli and everyone enjoyed their desserts. Their cakes looked amazing although we did not try them and they had many different types... More

Stopped in during a walk around the city. Everything looked delicious and it was tough to decide. We decided on custard filled eclairs and they were delicious! The best eclairs we've had this side of Paris. Stop here and you won't regret it!

After a nice pizza at Il Casario it's a must stop for a Ricota Cheese Canolli with chocolate chips! If you're lucky enough to get an outside table, enjoy the sun and the movement.

I came here with my children for a light snack....they wanted cookies and I selected a rectangular cake. They each tried a bite and I was able to get one before they stole it from me. The cookies were very good but the cake and friendly service were amazing

We were looking for a coffee shop after dinner on a Saturday night and sort of stumbled upon this one while walking down Columbia Ave. Turned out the be an amazing decision. The desserts were so tempting we ended up giving in. I had a canoli and it was awesome!

Josh and I enjoy a break at one of our favorite places. The coffee is excellent and with Josh the conversation is enjoyable. We may splurge for one of the tasty pastries. Counter people are friendly and patient.

This locally owned pastry shop is a great place for a mid morning or mid afternoon snack! The baker has been there for many years (from the story we were told) and makes everything in house - which you can see if you use the restroom since it's through the kitchen. The sacripantian is to die for (vanilla sponge cake... More

I've stopped in here several times over the years and have always loved their donuts & other pastries as a breakfast treat.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
