Very popular eatery in the Castro District

A local eatery with a varied menu, perhaps a bit better for lunch than for dinner. The food is good, the ambience pleasant and the servers are friendly and attentive. They never lose their cool no matter how crowded the restaurant and it can get crowded around noon. The location is perfect, right smack... read more

Fish and chips were very mediocre. Fish with dark brown but a little soft. Fries were very crispy. Blue cheese salad dressing was excellent. Service was very good. Price was reasonable.

I came here because of Harvey Milk. This is truely one of the best corner in San Francisco. The atmosphere and food are great. I definately will visit again.

This is a great spot to see & be seen, in those big windows right on the corner of Castro & 18th Street, which is Ground Zero for San Francisco's gay district. Part sports bar & part restaurant, Harvey's (named for civil rights leader Harvey Milk), serves primarily a gay clientele. I live in the neighborhood, so meet up there... More

We continued our bar crawl post-Pride and wound up at Harvey's. Great spot with extremely friendly service. They were some of the nicest people we met on our trip to SF. Drinks were priced right and the menu, although we didn't get to eat, looked decent. Lots of cool Harvey Milk photos and memorabilia around the place too. My only... More

I have always loved Harvey's! So of course, it's the first place I had to come and eat when I came back to San Francisco. The place still looks great, the food is still wonderful, and my server Milton provided extraordinary service. What a great smile, genuine personality, and just a wonderful person. Thank you for a great lunch.

I am skeptical and still not convinced that Harvey's has done enough to live up to the name it carries. I know that it may not be fair to use higher standard to measure a joint. But I think I should, especially I just finish reading its history story on Harvey's own web page. This is definitely a popular place... More

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
