I must say, I was a bit disappointed when I found out they didn't have any coffee. No dessert either? This restaurant united two cuisines. Korean and Mexican. I ordered the Chicken Kimchee burrito. Plenty of chicken, plenty of rice and vegetables. Not much flavor though. I was expecting... read more

Though lauded by many, HRD Coffee Shop is just a greasy dive with salty, so-so food. Prospective patrons can identify HRD Coffee Shop on a somewhat gritty block of Third Street in SOMA by the line of hungry diners snaking down the block and by the plume of greasy air wafting out the door. HRD is a dive, plain and... More

This place is no longer the cheap diner it started out as. It's still in the same location but they've remodeled and given the place a face lift. Place was featured on the food network show "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives" but this place is deserving. The food is still super delish (think of the top trending food trucks) except... More

Coffee shop, it is not. Excellent flavor, supreme service, and super fast it TOTALLY is. I was amazed that my 5 year old daughter LOVED it! The sous chefs behind the counter interacted with me and my daughter, suggesting items she would love. My husband ordered the kimchi spicy pork burrito and I had the smothered katsu shrimp burrito. The... More

I used to come here a lot more before they renovated (which makes the place a lot more clean looking) and honestly, the food seemed a bit better before than. The place still offers good food, but the service is excellent! While you're eating, they'll check-in with you to make sure everything is great. I love friendly service as it... More

It is my second time coming here. We ordered the two most popular items which is the Philly cheesesteak with mongolian beef and the spicy pork burrito. The burrito with the homemade kimchi is definitely the way to go. I should have gotten that every time to try all the different flavors. Each item - was between 10 to 12... More

We had heard about HRD's on the show DDD..so we had to go try it out. It took us forever to find it & my boyfriend and I almost broke up looking for it! LOL! Mostly because we were new to SF. But once we got there, let me tell you. It is NOT a fancy place at all, BUT... More

We stumbled upon this place in what I think is South of Market area in more of an up and coming neighborhood. We flipped a turn and came back to this place without googling or yelping. We took a risk and it turns out our hunch was a great one. I can't describe the menu other than it has a... More

Our family happened to walk by this cafe on our way to ATT park to attend the annual Opera in the Ballpark. Took a glance at the menu and were intrigued: kimchee burritos, curry smothered burritos...we had to try this place. Our boys ordered a bulgogi cheese steak while husband and I decided to share a shrimp Katsu smothered burrito.... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
