We went here because of the good reviews, and were baffled by the poor experience we had compared to all of these. We arrived about half an hour before closing and were fully rushed through the whole thing, seemingly because all the staff wanted to sit down to eat. The menu seemed large enough, but the food wasn't very tasty... More

I hope this is the right restaurant I am reviewing? Food here was average Cantonese food in a typical Chinatown setting. Service was fast and the food, plentiful. I would eat here again.

Food was first class and well priced. No credits cash only beware. Interesting position for toilets thro kitchen, worth the visit alone.

The restaurant is on Clay, set back off Grant. Look out for the sign - it's a small shop front. There's a lot of choice on the menu - all reasonably priced (not particularly cheap, but not expensive either). The restaurant was clean, with several staff clearing and cleaning tables. Service was average, but fairly fast. Even at 3pm the... More

My husband and I have been to Chinatown many times and always seek out a non-touristy place to eat. Today a ceremony involving two Chinese dragons, firecrackers, and drummers caused us to pause at Capital Restaurant. After the fanfare we walked in and were glad we did. A no frills but tasty lunch in a modest restaurant filled with locals.... More

Was so thankful to have found an asian restaurant with both decent food and decent price for what you get. We had the chicken chow mien which sadly didn't actually have much chicken and alot of noodles. Husband had veggie fried rice he loved it and we got sprouts with garlic. Greenest food I have had in months. Not far... More

Our tour guide Linda lee from allaboutchinatown.com walking tours recommended the Capital Restaurant and it was everything she said, authentic food in a restaurant frequented by the Chinese. Although the restaurant due to it's antiquity is not the usual place my wife would normally enter the service and food were exceptional and it was an experience enjoyed by the family... More

The food was truly Chinese. The service was quick, no frills, no conversation, just service. Drinks were not refilled. We had Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Pork Spare Ribs, Happy Family Fried Rice, Hot and Sour Soup, Egg Flower Soup. I did not like the flavor of the pork ribs. The hot and sour soup is very hot and very sour.... More

We always order the lobster emein and it's really good to eat in. Noodles absorb all the gravy when you take it out. Not sure it was work $31. The mu shu pork filling was tasty but the wrappers weren't. They use raw lumpia wrappers that can't hold together when it's filled. Pan fried noodles were okay. The table was... More

My son and I went here based on other reviews while on a visit to San Fran. The food was great as was the service. Too bad it was our last day. I would have definitely visited for a second meal!
