Made it a point to have breakfast there a day after the Air Show for Fleet Week. It is just a classic place to eat and it never changes. I was there with a friend of mine from North Carolina plus my son. A couple from Grand Junction, Colorado asked if they could join our table. (the tables are family... More

Your first impression of this place might be, omg. But its supposed to be organized mayhem. The bartender looks like he has been there for 30 years....and he has. Now his son works there too. But They have a system that works. Quality!!! Sit at the bar and enjoy the hand crafted Irish coffee. The story is that the founder... More

Its the kind of place you walk into and can tell it hasn't changed in 60+ years. Great and simple irish coffee. The only thing that could have made this experience better would have been if it was 10 degrees cooler so i could enjoy another

Claims to have introduced the US to Irish Coffee... and they are delicious so plan on having two. It opened in 1916 when the first floor of a boardinghouse was converted into a saloon. It's a quick walk from the Wharf or take the Powell or Hyde Street cable car, as the line ends directly outside their door.

Looking for an Irish coffee? This is the place to go. The bartender was interesting and the view of the water, Golden Gate Bridge and the cable cars was fantastic. We just stopped for drinks and it was a nice respite.

We had a few friends tell us to stop here and get an Irish coffee. WOW! We were fortunate to get a spot at the bar and watch 12 plus Irish coffee's being made at one time. It was amazing! and...they were delicious! Well worth the $18 for two. :)

Food was excellent! Irish coffee also excellent. You'll drop a bit of cash here though. Run like a European restaurant, no hostess. You seat yourself where ever there is a spot open. We sat down with 4 others that were already there finishing there meal. Enjoyable to meet other people. It may look full, but it you walk back farther,... More

Stopped in for the necessary Irish Coffe, and it was delicious. Paul, the bartender, says he's made up to 2000 a day and he knocks them out, about 10 at a time. They ARE delicious, if I didn't say that already. You need to stop here to at least have one. WE did not eat here, but loved the Irish... More

Having read other reviews I was very keen to eat here. I went for breakfast and was served one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. It appears to me that this establishment trades on it's claim to have invented Irish Coffee and food and service are an afterthought.
