It's dark, small but, the flavors from this kitchen are amazing! It's a local hangout and they told us anything on the specials board is good. That made it difficult to choose but, we went with the sole. It was served with the best homemade rice I have ever had. We also heard the Green Wine is worth a try... More

Iconic railway carriage serving Portuguese American food. Cosy yet atmospheric. Best Caesar Salad and cheesecake, yet a small selection of portuguese delicacies.

I married into a Portuguese family, and I love the cuisine. Grubsteak gets it right. Their Bacalhau a !Gomes de Sa is DELICIOUS. They also have a nice selection of Portuguese wine. Service was friendly and quick. I will be back!

This is a lovely restaurant, you may not think so from the outside but the quality is is excellent. These onion rings were absolutely wonderful. The burger was good, cooked correctly, but the onion rings stole the show, glad I chose it over the fries. Second time at this restaurant, you can't beat the menu, whatever your in the mood... More

The delightful restaurant serving American and Portuguese food, was once an old rail car. The burgers are and shakes are relly very good. Huge portions, with great service. The waitress who served us, was very welcoming and friendly, she gave us lots of tips about visiting the local area, and using the trams. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this wonderful venue.

My cousin was able to secure this place for a special event. We are all Portuguese and he wanted all of us to meet the owners and to bring back memories of our childhood. OMG it was awesome. Handmade linguicia and sweet bread. I'd go back for sure.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
