I had seen this restaurant on an episode of Giada's Weekend Getaways. The lobster pot pie looked divine, and I always said that if I ever visited San Francisco, I'd go to Michael Mina. Boy am I glad I did! We went for the theatre prix fixe...a bit smaller 3-course meal and dessert for a much more reasonable price. I... more

I just expected more “wow” or at least “very good” dishes from this restaurant, considering its price and two-star Michelin rating. Instead, the food ranged all over the place. The “summer salad seafood trio” was just… okay. The “wild fish” trio had a wonderful scallop with risotto, but was marred by a badly prepared crispy skin bass (I actually had... more

Michael Mina's flagship San Francisco eatery is worth a visit if money is no problem...but once is enough. Been there, done that. The good news first. Elegant, yet understated, comfortable atmosphere. The food..., not so great. It wasn't bad, but certainly not great. I may not be enough of a gourmand to appreciate his food, but the other three members... more

This is a BIG restaurant in the Westi ST Francis hotel. It has 2 Michelin rosettes (and probably deserves 1 of them). Food is very good with an exciting menu. However, the room is dark - so dark, in fact, that it was difficult to read the menu! Overall, service is good, but not exceptional. My overall impression was that... more

We went on the 18 of August at this “Spectacular” place. Modern decor with a fantastic light. The food is Upscale, delicious, exquisite,....I have no more words that can explain the near Perfection. The service is exepcional and profesional, just the way it has to be in a place like this. This is a place to be for a great... more

We took advantage of the new, special midweek 3-course menu for St. Francis guests (the same as the pre-theatre menu), which offered a chance to try the restaurant at about half the cost of the regular menu. The food was very good - the lobster pot pie in particular was excellent, and the chocolate chip cookies wonderful. The room is... more

Had very high expectations going in....Expected a big bill at the end and got one!...the in between details told the real story. - Scene was very nice - Seated on time - Waiter was a bit stuffy and not accommodating to reasonable requests - Had to convince everyone at table (6) to select same tasting menu since you are not... more
