the new Michael Mena restaurant (formerly Aqua) is the height of elegant, sophisticated cuisine. The décor reflects to upscale elegant feel but does not overwhelm. The food is highly original, mostly locally sourced with a very European influence. Quite simply every dish was properly proportioned and delicious. Four course or degustation menu are available.

My brother & I went to Michael Mina on St Patrick's Day. We had a great table by the window, so it's fun to people watch while you enjoy your meal. People passing by with St Pat's costume and green beads hanging on their chests, and someone even stopped at the window and posed like a begging dog. It seems... More

The staff in this restaurant were such snobs. Went out of their way to make us feel uncomfortable. The food was excellent but the experience was ruined by the attitude of the staff. They then had the audacity to charge 20% service because we had more than 5 people. I will never return.

This restaurant has been in San Francisco for over a decade in a couple of locations, so when friends were here on their honeymoon, I figured it was time to give Michael Mina a shot. Very nice service, great help with the wine choices, and while it is an expensive prix fixe ($95 per person), the choices were varied and... More

Once I was driving down 95 and was hungry. There weren't any great options for a busy traveler but I needed a meal. I stopped into Cracker Barrel. That was a one time experience for me. What do you ask does this have to do with Michael Mina? During my LENGTHY wait, I thought about that experience many years ago... More

This is a very nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere for both business or pleasure. The bar in the restaurant was a nice surprise and a perfect place to start the evening. The food was very nice and the concept of a 4 course menu was a perfect set up if you are on a business dinner. The wine list... More

Food was OK. Nothing was special but well cooked. Service was good. However, there was a huge delay between courses. Get the foie gras it's good.

Definitely deserves a second chance. The Artisan Fois gras was great. We had a 4 course tasting menu ... The black truffle risotto was beyond our expectations.

We went there with a group of 7ppl. Decided to do the 11 course menu and we weren't disappointed. The 11 courses turned into 12 as we had an amuse to start. The Sommelier Evan was very helpful and recommended some great wines. By the end of the meal we were so full, but found room to try the dessert... More

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
