Everything except an a la carte option

We had reserved for a party of 7 on a Monday evening, and the restaurant was only about half full. Somehow, we were seated at a round table uncomfortably situated near the back of the restaurant. Our family of 3 opted for the $100 4 course menu. Overall it was very good and I think we would return. Appetizers: Our server recommended the tuna tartar and my son and I both tried it. My son loved it, the flavors were subtle. I thought it was just ok. Husband had the special Spanish blue fin for an... More

My wife, daughter and I had dinner there on Sunday May 3rd. We made our reservation by phone the same day. The dining room, with its high ceiling and well separated tables, feels spacious and comfortable. We had the $100 prix fixe dinner. All four courses were beautifully presented. The portions were on the small side. Most of the taste... More

The evening didn't start well when we were seated at a 'roundabout' table with staff swishing past us from all angles. My chair was knocked twice within the first couple of minutes so we asked to be moved. The staff were very obliging and found us a better table along the side of the restaurant. We went for the four... More

Had a great time...Obviously being together drove that, but the cocktails (great Negroni Boulevardier and Russel Reserve 12 Years old ) the food (great tasting menu) the incredible personal and personable service during the multi courses (we stayed over 2 hours), makes yesterday evening at Michael Mani one of the memorable dinner experience that I'll cherish for years to come.

really enjoyed the 4 course option at Michael Mina's restaurant in SF. Had the Foie Gras which was divine, cauliflower steak that was quite lovely (hubby enjoyed the scallops) and the lobster was great as well. We both had the cheese option for dessert with a dessert wine selected by the sommelier. There were lots of little extras that added... More

Dinner this week at Michael Mina was terrific. Now that the Foie ban has been lifted we took advantage. The seared lobe was well portioned and perfectly prepared. They provided a glass of Sauternes to accompany, which made it a fantastic first course pairing. I ordered Duck for my main, and it was cooked wonderfully, and extremely flavorful. Service was... Michael Mina has fabulous food, fabulous service, a great experience. The staff was very knowledgable, very helpful with the wines, and describing the various courses, all with great simplicity and without being obtrusive. It was a memorable experience, and well worth the hefty check!!

the new Michael Mena restaurant (formerly Aqua) is the height of elegant, sophisticated cuisine. The décor reflects to upscale elegant feel but does not overwhelm. The food is highly original, mostly locally sourced with a very European influence. Quite simply every dish was properly proportioned and delicious. Four course or degustation menu are available.

My brother & I went to Michael Mina on St Patrick's Day. We had a great table by the window, so it's fun to people watch while you enjoy your meal. People passing by with St Pat's costume and green beads hanging on their chests, and someone even stopped at the window and posed like a begging dog. It seems... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
