Great 'before theatre eats'!

We had a great waiter who knew her beers! The Fish & chips were yummy! Truly a good pub & we enjoyed our pub dinner! A fun place with lots of stuff on walls & ceiling!

This pub in an alley offers a great selection of typical Pub food such as mac and cheese (absolutely delish), fish and chips and pot pie. The calamari as a starter are also great, crispy and not too battered.

My wife and I landed in San Francisco after a long flight from the East Coast and stumbled across this place while walking up Columbus. Very cool pub with great food. Had the calamari, oysters, and fish and chips which were all great choices. The beer choices were pretty cool as well. We enjoyed a few of the California micro... More

Great food, a nice place to hangout with friends and grab a Guinness or two or three. The best time to come here is on St. pattys day! They have a block party. Great times great people.

Following a morning of sightseeing, my wife and I and two friends stopped at O'Reilly's for a late lunch. Our friends had huge, tasty veggie burgers and my wife and I had some of the best and most generous portions of fish and chips we've eaten anywhere, including London! The pub atmosphere is genuine here, not phony like some so-called... More

Great choice in beers---Coming from Fort Worth Texas, we could NOT believe how reasonable the prices were! You could not expect the same selection here in that price range....Great beers and wonderful rustic-pub atmosphere. We sat outside and people watched while sipping an IPA and a Pilsner---both quite pleasant and cost only $4 each!!!!

Stopped in while taking a self walking tour (we were lost) of San Francisco. Beer was cold, wait staff were super friendly and lots of locals to converse with. We really enjoyed the outdoor tables although most are missing umbrella pins so there wasn't a lot of shade and it was a hot day. Minus that we loved it. A... More

This is the San Francisco Irish Bar in North Beach. You want a drink they do it. It fills up quick around 5 PM with Irish- real Irish- it can be like being overseas at times. But lets get to the food facts first. If you want "Haute Cuisine" wrong place. You want some good basic comfort food, good black... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
