We had a wonderful seafood meal here and enjoyed a great view of the bay. The service was very good and dinner selections were plentiful.

Sat at the bar and had oysters, skillitt mussels and then the crab. All were really good. Friendly bar staff helped make it a great evening. Fantastic views too.

We walked up and down Fishermans wharf looking for somewhere for dinner and came across this place. This was one of out best meals in the U.S. My wife and I shared the crab for two and it was amazing. Loved every mouth full and only wished we could keep eating more! Would deffinetly recommend this place!!

I wasn't even hungry yet when I was walking by and saw the advertisement for their "famous fishwich" I knew I needed to try it. Boy was that a mistake. The staff were very friendly at the counter and the sandwich was ready in minutes and was still very hot. I sat at a window inside where I could see... More

Think Olive Garden or Red Lobster with a better view and MUCH HIGHER PRICES. Also, would you like some politics with dinner? If so, take a look at the "government healthcare mandate" upcharge at the bottom of your bill. UGH we came here to enjoy dinner not read about and deal with your issues with paying health insurance for your... More

This was our first trip to SF. We decided to come to the Franciscan Crab Restaurant because it had a good review and the food was priced to our budget. We ordered the triple combo of shrimp, mussels, and crabs. We also ordered the crab fondue (highly recommended) and the crispy potatoes. We have evening reservations so there wasn't really... More

The other reviews about great views, good vibe, touristy, expensive, and memorable are certainly true, but what we did not expect from a restaurant of this purported quality was chewy crab, pieces of which tasted like ammonia, and relatively dry halibut (entrée). I had heard that crab might be out of season, but regardless, the quality should have been better... More

JMinNC, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We're sorry to hear you felt our crab and halibut were subpar. Building is on the bay- great view of Alcatraz. The food & service were great. Though historic and neat to look at all of the famous people photographed there over the years, the place is due for some updating. I appreciate and liked the subway tile, the lighting, especially at the bar, and the color scheme, however, the carpet needs... More

We ate at the Franciscan Crab Restaurant and looking at all the celebrity pictures from the 50s & 60s we thought it must have been quite glamourous back in the day. Of course no one really dresses up much for dinner anymore so that part has been taken away but the décor is still good and the views very good.... More
