Loved this place

We were staying at a close by hotel and decided to walk over and order a pizza to go. The service was excellent. Friendly, prompt, and perfect. We had a glass of wine while we waited for our pizza. By accident we stumbled on this restaurant. Really great food, authentic Italian dishes, and friendly and fast service. Even the pizzas tasted really genuine. The atmosphere was cosy too. Basically there is nothing wrong with this place, on the contrary. Well suited for a family dinner or an informal business lunch or dinner. All in all good value for money.... More

My review has already been written by another reviewer, "Fab221." Great, authentic, Italian cuisine. But be prepared with tums or other antacid. That's the price some of us have to pay to eat food this delicious.

Nice small Italian restaurant in Pacific Heights. Superb friendly service, the food was great, great selection in the menu and the day specials, good wine selection. We will return.

I have been there twice within 2 weeks You have a large choice of dishes, pasta and pizza. Despite it is ranked $$$ in trip advisor, it is not very expensive for SF considering the quality. The restaurant has a kind of wintergarden in the back where the decoration is not as nice as the main room, but where you... More

Another great experience of Italian cooking in america. We came by this restaurant by chance and so glad we did. We knew it would be good when the whole restaurant was full. We sat at the bar as no tables were free and loved being at the bar as you could see the chefs at work. I ordered the sausage... More

Pane e Vino in Union Street Pacific Heights is an established fairly traditional Italian restaurant frequented by locals, so you know it is good. The service was impeccable, as was the food and wine - we didn't have a reservation but were accommodated without fuss. A warm and inviting atmosphere, reasonably priced - a cosy haven on a cold San... More

very comfortable and welcoming neighborhood spot. Italian food that is above average, very reasonably priced. Extensive menu with many daily specials. Wonderful stuffed artichoke, very solid traditionals such as pollo marinato allo griglia, scaloppine di vitello ai funghi. Only real negative - your main course will likely appear 5 minutes after you get your starters, while you are just enjoying... More

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
