I could have made a meal out of their imperial rolls which are great and crunchy! We've never had Vietnamese so I can't compare it to another Vietnamese restaurant. We had pho which was great. It is crowded and we were told that this is where all the locals go.

This casual place is always packed at lunch time. There is a large community table where one or two people can always squeeze in without a wait. Pho is the specialty but the menu is extensive. I like the pork vermicelli noodle salad #49 . Great spices in the dish and interesting sauces. I pop in often when I'm in... More

Decent pho for a cold windy night. I wouldn't call it bad but I've had better. Service was nice. We got pho, eggrolls, rice dish and spicy noodle. All decent and price is reasonable.

Arrived late to San Francisco but I had a craving for something hot. The restaurant was conveniently located across from my hotel so I made a stop. I ordered Pho and summer rolls. Food came out very fast. As for the taste... summer rolls lacked mint leave, cilantro... Pho didn't have the flavor needed to truly call it Pho and... More

My bf and I spent a month in Vietnam last year and always search for a tasty stateside reminder of our trip. This place was close to our wanted flavor of Vietnam. The BBQ steak salad rolls we had today were the closest we have had since our trip over seas. Plus the service was great and the price was... More

Low key means casual and economical, not quiet. This place is usually loud, bustling, and smells of good food. I've been going here for years for after happy hour dinners and for weekday lunches. It is always packed for lunch at peak times. It is comfort food for all. If you get pork rice plates, always add a fried egg.... More

On a drizzly, cold day I needed a Pho fix and found Golden Star. I beat the lunch crowd slightly, so everything came out very quickly. They have several combinations of Pho filling available, so if tendon or other things scare you, you can get leaner cuts. The beef in my bowl had some lean and some fatty pieces, but... More

This restaurant was exactly what we needed after a long first morning in San Francisco. The food was fantastic. Amazing beef rolls - could have eaten 4 times the amount and left very full. This was followed by really delicious chicken vermicelli and prawn and pork fried rice. The service was really prompt although we were the only customers in... More

Dirty restaurant. Furniture was sticky and utensils still had food on them. Caught waiter picking his nose and another one lying to a unknowing Caucasian family about not using MSG. We tasted it right away. They give you a pot of tea but forget to take your drink orders. They also forgot to put in our appetizer so we cancelled... More

Adequate for a student budget, but otherwise unimpressive. Almost worth the price. Our party had imperial rolls, chicken curry, and 5-spice chicken.
