Not really sure what all the rave reviews are about. We popped in for a late lunch and were given very unfriendly service. The toilets were dirty and smelly and the food was boring. In its favour the food was served promptly - which was good because it meant we could leave quicker. Plenty of other options in Chinatown.

Great stop on a cold day in San Francisco. Excellent pho in the middle of Chinatown. Never would have found this place without the reviews from TripAdvisor.

I had pho twice here, both time when I stayed at nearby Hilton. Nothing is notable about food.. soup is a bit salty. They give generous amount, fast service. Good for a quick bite.

What a surprise to find a really good Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown in San Francisco! Actually we wanted to go to a Chinese restaurant next door to try some Chinese food in Chinatown. The restaurant was about to close so we went to Golden Star next door. We ordered Pho beef and spring rolls! This was absolutely a good surprise... More

I could have made a meal out of their imperial rolls which are great and crunchy! We've never had Vietnamese so I can't compare it to another Vietnamese restaurant. We had pho which was great. It is crowded and we were told that this is where all the locals go.

This casual place is always packed at lunch time. There is a large community table where one or two people can always squeeze in without a wait. Pho is the specialty but the menu is extensive. I like the pork vermicelli noodle salad #49 . Great spices in the dish and interesting sauces. I pop in often when I'm in... More

Decent pho for a cold windy night. I wouldn't call it bad but I've had better. Service was nice. We got pho, eggrolls, rice dish and spicy noodle. All decent and price is reasonable.

Arrived late to San Francisco but I had a craving for something hot. The restaurant was conveniently located across from my hotel so I made a stop. I ordered Pho and summer rolls. Food came out very fast. As for the taste... summer rolls lacked mint leave, cilantro... Pho didn't have the flavor needed to truly call it Pho and... More

My bf and I spent a month in Vietnam last year and always search for a tasty stateside reminder of our trip. This place was close to our wanted flavor of Vietnam. The BBQ steak salad rolls we had today were the closest we have had since our trip over seas. Plus the service was great and the price was... More

Low key means casual and economical, not quiet. This place is usually loud, bustling, and smells of good food. I've been going here for years for after happy hour dinners and for weekday lunches. It is always packed for lunch at peak times. It is comfort food for all. If you get pork rice plates, always add a fried egg.... More
