We had a great breakfast here, really good home cooked food in a shabby diner style. The bar stools face the workpit and you can watch your breakfast being cooked. I might be a bit of a snob, fair enough but if this place was located where I live it would be shut down for all the health and safety... More

I am quite sad and resentful to be writing up such a glowing review of Golden Coffee, because I know in a few months everyone will realise how amazing it is, and then I will have to queue up for hours if I ever want to eat there again! We were originally planning to eat at Dotty's before discovering they'd... More

This is a fabulous place for breakfast especially if you're a tourist anywhere near Union Square. It's old-school diner style breakfast. Very good, back to the basics eggs, hash browns and coffee. You can splurge and get the pork chop with eggs and still be under $10. I make it a point to eat here whenever I'm in San Francisco.

We stayed for the weekend by Union Square area and found this great small mom-n-pop breakfast place through TripAdvisor. The ratings are spot on! My husband and I paid less than $20 for both of us for a hearty and tasty breakfast omelette and beef patty with hash and toast. Ran by an older Asian couple, with very simple old... More

What can I say breakfast for under $20 for two. The food is so good and the interaction with everyone is very refreshing. We make it a must when we are in the city.

We stay just two blocks from here and for 6.50 you get an eggs sausage and hash browns. The atmosphere is still 50's diner, and the service is quick.

Great find right across from Hotel Vertigo where we enjoyed our stay in San Francisco. Loved the old diner charm of the curved counter. Family run business that serves great breakfasts that are delicious and excellent value for money.

We stayed at Vertigo and came here for breakfast every morning. It was top notch. Definitely best start to the day.

And by "greasy spoon" I don't mean it literally. Golden Coffee is scrupulously clean. I must have been the second person through the door on a weekday morning. Picked out the corned beef hash and eggs. Got served a perfectly cooked meal by the dad. Enjoyed the cross section of neighborhood regulars and the odd tourist like me. This is... More

This place was recommended by the front desk at the Hotel Vertiogo and what a recommendation it was! As everyone else has noted, this is a basic place with limited seating. almost all at the counter. It is cash only, but it's easy to get out for under $20 for 2, with tax and tip. If you want a fancy... More
