My husband took me here for drinks and tapas. He's really into beers, brewing his own and such, and was very impressed by their selection. I had the Grizzly Bear which is a red ale and it was very flavorful. He ordered the sampler and then had two full beers as well. I had a sip of his saison and... More

I always get concerned when a craft brewery devotes as much (or more) to the food side of the business than to the beer. The beer suffers. The place is huge, they clearly want to sell food. Big selection of beers, probably a dozen, you will be able to find one that fits your tastes. I'd rather go someplace that... More

Beer excellent. Tapas - expensive bigger portions would give feeling of being looked after! What we did have was nice, expensive tho for what it was!

Great beer, great atmosphere, nice snacks. The place is pretty busy and loud. Didn't eat dinner so don't know about that. Hard to get a table.

We were a party of 12 who were well accommodated as our numbers grew. Service was very good with prompt drink ordering and service. The food service was a little bit slower. The Thirsty Bear has a great pub atmosphere, busy and it is loud but not excessively so. The beer selection is good and I especially appreciated the cask... More

A night out with a party of 12 sounds like an amazing time -- thanks for spending it with us. I'm really glad you enjoyed the tapas and beer! That cask IPA is a great choice -- one of my personal favorites. As for the smaller glasses, it's all part of making your beer experience even better! The glasses allow... More

I stopped by the Thirsty Bear Brewing Company while in San Francisco on business. The Thirsty Bear occupies a deep storefront on Howard Street, with a very pleasant gastropub aesthetic. The front area of the space is all bar and nicely spaced high-top tables, where the back is smaller table arrangements. The service was low-key but very attentive and pleasant... More

Visited in a group - the beer is very good (get a tasting platter if you've not been there before to help you decide what you like). Tasty tapas rounded it all off - and we left a lot less thirsty than we arrived!

Thirsty Bear Brewing was recommended to us by a friend and did not disappoint! They brew all their own beer which was appealing to my husband and me as we always like to try new beers. The atmosphere was that of a typical brewpub - high ceilings, loud, and busy. We had reservations, however, so we were able to get... More

I was feeling a bit adventurous back in 1996 when I decided to pair our beers with Spanish Cuisine! It's happily surprised a lot of people over time! Thanks for the review and kind words. I'm flattered you thought highly of the beers and experience. Thanks for spending some time with us, we hope to see you again on your... More

I'm a fan of the Thirsty Bear. It's a brewpub first and they make a selection of very good beers served properly. There's a standard line up of beers and usually a couple of seasonals. Food is tapas and generally very good though not all are necessarily authentic Spanish.
