We had a conference at the nearby Marriott Marquis and somehow two off-site dinners were booked at the Thirsty Bear. I didn't mind at all because the beer was fantastic and the food was delicious. We had a fairly large group of 15-20 so they put us in an upstairs room which was more quiet. There are several different beers... More

My biggest pet peeve is when I walk into a restaurant and the hostess just looks at me and waits for me to speak first, which is exactly what happened here. Your job is to greet me, make me feel welcome, and ask what I need. Instead she just stood there until I asked for a table for 2. Then... More

Well this is a bummer, LinzLou11. You should expect much more from our staff, and I do hope you'll accept my apologies that we weren't on our A game when you visited. I will definitely be addressing this with the team -- thanks for your honesty. Another shot to show you what we're really all about would mean a ton,... More

we visited late afternoon on NYE and the place was quiet. We sat at the bar and struck up a nice conversation with the bartender. I tried a couple of different brews (the cask conditioned red ale and the ESB). Both beers were well cellared and highly enjoyable. The tapas menu had a number of great choices and we ordered... Thrilled you enjoyed everything, Lockmk! Thanks for hanging out with us on NYE -- I know our bartenders love some good convo when they have the time. Hopefully the rest of your SF adventure went well, and that I'll see you back in next time you're in the area. Cheers, Ron, Owner More

If I could give half stars this restaurant would recieve a 3.5. The beer was very good, a great selection of home brews. We tried three and each was unique and surprisingly fragrant. My favorite was the IPA. We ordered a few small plates: the croquettes, the brussel sprouts and the empanadas. On a whole each dish was prepared well... More

Thanks so much for the detailed review! Honesty is what keeps us going, so I do appreciate the feedback on the brussels and other food items. Really glad you enjoyed the beers you tried and hope you'll give the food another shot next time you're in the area. Cheers, Ron, Owner More

The restaurant is within walking distance to the Westin Hotel, so very convenient if you're looking for craft beer. My wife tried the drilled smoked turkey sandwich, while I had the adobo spiced grilled steak sandwich...both were excellent. I'm normally an IPA fan, but since it was a rainy day, I tried the stout. Very good, but next time, I... More

You'll definitely have to try the IPA next time, although I don't blame you for wanting the stout on a rainy day. I hope you and the wife had a great holiday in the city, and that you'll come in and grab another sandwich or two next time you have a chance. Cheers, Ron, Owner More

We went in the middle of the day and had some delicious Spanish tapas. We had the meatballs, clams and mussels with chorizo, and short ribs. The first two were great, the short ribs were a bit dry. The waiter and hostess were both wonderfully friendly. I had a sangria which had a subtle hint of spice and my husband... More

Thanks for stopping by, Cassandra! I do promise those beer glasses are three ounces -- As for those short ribs, they shouldn't ever be dry, and I'll forward that info on to the kitchen. Hope you'll give us another shot next time you're in the area. Cheers, Ron, Owner More

Great for a bite and beer. Upstairs they have pool tables too. It's right across the street from the W hotel so an easy spot if you're want to stay close to your hotel.

I stopped by here for a few beers after my long haul flight and my only complaint is that it was closing only an hour after I arrived for a private function. The bar staff were very knowledgeable and reasonably attentive. The surroundings are pretty modern and cool...and the food looked tasty. I did not eat, but had 2 of... More

Glad to see that Koslov Stout blew you away, Mickey! Sorry we closed a little early, but the area we're in doesn't typically bring in a late crowd. Hopefully your trip across the pond was a great one, and that we'll see you in again next time you're in the area. Cheers, Ron, Owner More

Their beer is all organic and it is very good! They have a nice selection of tapas, sandwiches and salads on the menu. We were there on a sunday and so got to see the flamenco dancers. Came in here to try some of their beers, but the only way they do samples is if you buy a sample of all 9. All or nothing. They would have made more off of me if they let me choose my own flight of 4 or 5. Instead, I just had one beer and left. Seems strange to run... More
