We went to this restaurant after an evening Alcatraz tour. We had 7:30 reservations. Our table was set for us and we were seated immediately. I was surprised at how small the restaurant was but the atmosphere was quiet and intimate. We had to ask for our bread but our appetizers were delicious (scallops, caprese salad) Everyone at our table... more

I may have been expecting too much of this place, but after eating at the Allegro Romano, I came away a little disappointed. The restaurant is very small and crowded. The menu very limited. The owner greeted us at the door, but after that seemed to devote all of his attention to the party of four at the table next... more

Took a group of 9 business associates for dinner. All were thrilled with the evening's food and follies. The staff was very attentive to each and every detail. When we arrived, we were a bit early, but the staff hussled to seat us at our rose-petal-covered table. We told them to bring on the appetizers . . . their choice.... more

Before we left for vacation, we forgot to ask our neighbors, who lived in SF for a few years for some recommendation of restaurants. When we told them where we went, they couldn't believe it because this restaurant was their all-time favorite. The staff and owner could not had made the evening more perfect and the food is delicious! If... more

Small but charming restaurant tucked away in a neighborhood setting. From the moment we walked until the time we left we were made to feel special. The service was always one step ahead of our needs. The food was unlike any other Italian food we have had. As we left, the host followed us out of the door to thank... more

Incredible restaurant on Nob Hill. Small but very quaint. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left we were treated like royalty. The service was incredible from start to finish. We started with gravy and bread gratis as well as bruschetta and then proceeded with our meal. We ordered an appetizer that was different but terrific. It... more

We were planning on an Italian dinner in North Beach, but our concierge was quick to suggest Allegro Romano as an excellent, less-touristy alternative. He called the restaurant and asked the owner, Lorenzo, to take good care of us. When we got to the restaurant, we were ushered in by Lorenzo and seated in a nice corner booth. The restaurant... more

I've been here one-on-one and I just had a birthday dinner here with 10 people - it has always been wonderful. When you try to make a reservation, the message on the answering machine is "Leave yourrrr name, yourrrr numberrrr, speak slowly, and be happy!" which is exactly the atmosphere within this intimate space. Service is superbe - get ready... more

Went to this location at the recommendation of the hotel concierge. Was the best Italian meal I have had in years. Better than some Michelin starred restaurants in Italy for a much better price. Pros Amazing flavor, well designed menu, good portion sizes & wonderful atmosphere. The antipasto, primo, secondo, & dolco were all perfectly prepared, well flavored and made... more

I recently returned from a very enjoyable weekend in my favorite city, San Francisco. I had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant I tried for the first time, but assuredly not the last. Allego Romano is a jewel of a restaurant tucked away in Pacific Heights, a residential section, of San Franciso. Lorenzo was the consummate host, and the... more
