Hole in the wall takeout place, but good food and good price

Needed a sandwich for lunch when I went to watch my granddaughter's swim lesson. Stopped here to get a quick sandwich to go. They seem to have a long-term loyal clientele since the manager/preparers seemed to know lots of customers by name. Sandwiches were very good and nice sized (but don't get... read more

My friend at work, having learned that I moved to the neighborhood, told me that the Submarine Center had the very best sandwiches in San Francisco. He grew up here and is otherwise a person of sound judgement, so I was excited to try the place. After two visits, I would say they put very average ingredients - a limited... More

My friend told our group of friends to try this place and we did. That was almost 20 years ago and we still come here. The best sandwiches ever. Simple but great!! The atomic sub is excellent. With lemonade snapple it's even better. I suggest trying the veggie too. I love meat but they made me a believer.

We just happened to going by and were hungry and my wife found it in a search with tons of good reviews. We decided to stop and we are glad we did. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches thoroughly. The place is tiny and has a line constantly and now we understand why. Excellent!

They are at the West Portal Muni rail stop and they is ALWAYS a line from am to pm. Line moves very fast and the subs are excellent. I always have the Pastrami and it is always EXCELLENT. The owner could be the brother from the soup Nazi on Seinfield.Has the same personality and NEVER smiles. But he runs a... More

It is like being in a real submarine with bay area sport memrobilia on the walls, it is tiny spot, but the sandwiches that this tiny kitchen create are legendary ! They offer 3 sizes of sandwiches, mini, center, sub depends on how hungry you are. After you pick the type of sandwich you'd like, they pack it generously and... More

I had the turkey sub with avocado! He had his original with the Salami... My lunch was delicious and unforgettable!!!! I will be stopping in this little packed sandwich joint everytime I hit the city from here on out! No wonder this is HIS favorite sub shop!!!

This little hole in the wall does a great business and has been around forever. We have eaten here dozens of times and they hit the mark every time. My only issue lately is I think they have cut back on the amount of meat they are putting in their subs. This last time I get the pastrami and it... More

Sandwiches here are quite good - a really nice change from your average sandwich shop/deli. Try the submarine sandwich, it's good! One thing to note - parking can be a challenge.
