Family Lunch, Great Experience

We stopped by this place after a double-decker bus tour and we were sure happy that we did. My family of four loves sushi, and we had never really found a place that had good sushi and a unique experience like this one. Us kids (14 and 12 at the time) loved the floating boat conveyor belt idea, and... read more

This is my 14 year olds favorite place to eat in Japantown and I've eaten here a number of times. The boats are fun to watch go round and round. The type of fish and quality offered is typical of what you'd find at any grocery store sushi counter. I'd only recommend eating there for an early lunch. We usually... More

I went in wanting Kaiten sushi, so I was very happy to find this. I couldn't find the price list because it was a few seats beside me. So I grabbed 7 plates. While the fish was fresh, the rice wasn't that firm. So it would fall apart. My roe sushi fell apart pretty easily. In the end I spent... More

I really like this place. It is great for the family and the boats are a great concept. I liked the sushi. It was fresh and tasty, but not in the top three. The prices are very fair and the sushi chefs are great. I recommend Isobune to all but especially to families.

I have been going to this place for about 30 years. The sushi boats are fun to watch go by and grab what looks good. Food quality is good. Not really high end fancy sushi, but good place to go with friends, family with kids old enough to not get too restless, or even on a date. Seating is around... More

I am disappointed. Too expensive for variety they offer. The server was Okay when she greeted me,but wasn't very pleasant. it was Sunday night. Not much variety and sushi looked old. I think when you have company the ambiance is great and may be romantic. When you are by yourself all you care is good food. It was not the... More

We ate as Isobune after a day of cycling around San Francisco and arrived with a big appetite. Isobune is a popular and busy sushi bar in Japantown. It serves sushi with the boat moat setup, which is perfect when you are starving. Boats go by with various sushi and rolls float by and you grab whichever strikes your fancy.... More

We found ourselves in Japantown and did not know where to go. Looked on Trip Advisor and found Isobune. As we walked in a couple was leaving, so I asked how it was - they told us it was terrific. So we sat down, and watched as a huge variety of sushi rolls floated by. Of our party of 3... More

My wife and I have been going to Isobune for over 40 years, and I was saddened by our visit today. It has always been a place of memories and good feelings. The last time that I went there, they had raised the prices significantly, and the selection was not that great. Today March 30, I went there and the... More

I took my kids here for the experience of taking sushi off of boats. It was fun and the sushi was good. My only complaint is that there was not a huge variety of sushi. I saw one spider roll and it was gone before it came around again, and I never saw another again. I did try four or... More
