A Happening Place!

My partner and I visited the De Young Museum and then followed the paths in the park to the coast where we found the Beach Chalet Brewery. We went to the restaurant in the back where there is a nice fireplace lit. We both had a bratwurst and glass of wine. This is a happy place! Our server was... read more

We stopped here for a late brunch/early lunch. Though it was busy we were seated right away. What a great place - service was attentive but not cloying. The fish and chips were great, as was the wienerschnitzel. The beer was awesome. The view from this former public beach house is outstanding. The historic WPA artwork throughout is beautiful, and... Food was very good and enjoyed by all. Our table had a roasted chicken, rare NY steak, Ribs and Crab salad. The food was well-prepared and presented. The waiter was sufficiently attentive, but not overly so. The fellow who brought the food, however, just sort of handed it off and wasn't too keen on getting the right plate to the... More

For me, fish and chips is the dish of choice if you're overlooking the ocean, and the views here are magnificent. Fish and chips are usually a safe bet: hard to mess up deep frying, right? But these folks manage to do exactly that. The chips arrived: a mix of hot and cold, but uniformly soggy. Reordered the chips: which... More

.... you prefer weak drinks, very few of them, interminable waits, and poor service. If that sounds like you, then this is your place. At any given time on Sunday there were from 5 to 20 open tables. No matter -- we and the other minions had to wait for other full ones to clear. It was almost as if... More

The food is pretty good but a lot of it is pricey for lunch. Salad greens were top quality. The service was a bit slow & there was a mix-up with my order, though the staff remedied the situation. Most locals go for the excellent view of the Pacific Ocean on a clear day, and the relatively easy parking (especially... More

I am proud to be from this great city full of fine dining there is nov excuse for the quality of the meal I had today ... one over cooked crab cake (with almost no crab) cost $15 ... even for a Tourist trap like this that is not acceptable. the rest of the table was served equally dismal, overcooked,... We usually stop here for lunch when we're in the area. It's a nice spot for California cuisine plus local beers and wines. It's still is excellent. On a Friday there were multiple families celebrating. And when the fog is out you get a stunning view of the beach and the Pacific Ocean. Our only disappointment was the service, though friendly,... More

A very nice little spot along the seafront. Gorgeous views out over the beach watching the sunset on the horizon. Food was great. I had the carbonara which was delicious... slightly small portion but it really hit the spot. I would come here again for sure.
