If you can't relax and enjoy your wonderful meal here you won't be able to anywhere. With a view of the crashing waves of the Pacific a few hundred yards away you can't go wrong. The server was fast and we never had to ask for more water, bread or drinks. Lunch was amazing and the prices were very reasonable.... More

Lovely view, grand period building, but unspeakably poor food. I ordered mussels and they had been most likely frozen. Perhaps I should have asked but in this setting? Perhaps they should have been a bit honest. Really a poor choice. Go to one the ethnic places nearby. It would have to be better than this.

We were down from Lake Oswego, Oregon to visit our son and go to the Oregon Ducks vs. Cal game... Obviously the restaurant has an insanely beautiful ocean view and a nice big full service bar... it is mainly a brewery and my son (the beer guy of the family... I'm more of a wino!!) really enjoyed their Presidio IPA.... More

After a pleasant afternoon exploring Golden Gate Park, we ate here. We had researched it and made reservations in advance (recommended). We were on the early side and got ideal seats overlooking the beach and ocean. The place filled up as we ate. I had the beef short ribs dinner and my wife had the fish of the day which... More

I thought the food was good, but the views were STUNNING -- we got to watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. At night the firepits were lit and we could watch folks having parties on the beach. What a magical place, and totally San Francisco. I only regret we didn't have time to tour the park. My burger was... More

Food and service are good but you can find the same in many places in San Francisco. The whole experience is what makes it 5 Stars. Beach Chalet is a restaurant on top of Golden Gate Park exhibit, offers excellent view of the Pacific ocean if you get a window table. Park Chalet is an extension of a building located... More

Great view of the beach. Really enjoyed the food and my friends liked the beer. We went mid afternoon, it was quite quiet then.

If you have to eat there, don't get the fish and chips. There was a little bit of fish that was deep fried in a ton of batter that was so greasy you had to have ten napkins.....and even then my hands felt greasy. the cole slaw was extremely bland, and the fries were dry and seemed to be lacking... Romantic getaway to the Bay Area - walks in the park led us to grab a drink at the Park Chalet (lower/outdoor level) and then dinner in a window seat upstairs at the Beach Chalet. The lower level bar area was vibrant - fast, music playing, incredibly busy. Bartenders were fantastic, beer decent. Upstairs we assumed would be quieter, slower... More

Both the Beach Chalet and its sister, Park Chalet, have come down a bit since our last time here a few years ago. The old murals on the first floor are still amazing, but the atmosphere has been cheapened by a junky gift shop and a visitors center. The ocean views are special, as always. Our reservations were for the... More
