An Old Fashioned Meal Well Cooked

This is not a five star restaurant; not even close. I would give it something between a 3-4 if I could, but I tend toward the 4. Here’s why: This is a tiny, neighborhood place. Several locals walked in off the street and were obviously well-known to the maître ‘d. The décor is no great shakes; kinda shabby around the... More

We'll start with the soup -- divine. Cream-based spinach and potato. We shared a small dinner salad with a delectable vinaigrette. I had the Rosemary chicken and my wonderful husband had the salmon. These were equally thrilling, but their respective sauces, each substantial and in generous quantity, elevated our entrees to a level of enjoyment that can be described as... More

Restaurant smells of rancid cooking oil. My duck breast was swimming in sauce and served with white rice and chunky vegetables certainly not French MK

A great French restaurant in Nob Hill. The food is spectacular and you will enjoy it very much. It is small and intimate which adds to its charm. One place not to be missed when you are in San Francisco.

We were visiting from England and it was our anniversary so we wanted a good restaurant. I did my research beforehand and found this little gem run by a Japanese lady who is also the chef and her food is without doubt excellent.

This place is run by Vietnamese and they seemed to be pretty good at French cuisine since France occupied their country for quite some time. The kitchen is open to the dining room so you can see the chef working hard (the place was full). We had two red snappers and a rack of lamb. Soup was included. It was... More

I went to eat there for the first time last December. Great small restaurant if you want to eat something typical. The food was good and the service was good as well. The old man who seems to be the boss is super friendly and accommodating. However, I put average for the service because I waited a little bit more... More

An unpretentious French restaurant that occupies a corner spot just a block down from the Mark Hopkins. I had dinner here with a colleague during a conference. The starter soup of watercress was excellent. The garden salad was memorable: Rue Lepic’s was clearly made from the freshest ingredients and was dressed just right. It was good to see something so... Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
