Fantastic food

We were visiting from England and it was our anniversary so we wanted a good restaurant. I did my research beforehand and found this little gem run by a Japanese lady who is also the chef and her food is without doubt excellent.

This place is run by Vietnamese and they seemed to be pretty good at French cuisine since France occupied their country for quite some time. The kitchen is open to the dining room so you can see the chef working hard (the place was full). We had two red snappers and a rack of lamb. Soup was included. It was... More

I went to eat there for the first time last December. Great small restaurant if you want to eat something typical. The food was good and the service was good as well. The old man who seems to be the boss is super friendly and accommodating. However, I put average for the service because I waited a little bit more... More

An unpretentious French restaurant that occupies a corner spot just a block down from the Mark Hopkins. I had dinner here with a colleague during a conference. The starter soup of watercress was excellent. The garden salad was memorable: Rue Lepic’s was clearly made from the freshest ingredients and was dressed just right. It was good to see something so... So you are looking for a small intimate French Restaurant that serves french food, well you have just found it. Only has about 10 tables and so a reservation is in order. It has the clasic french feel, the classic french food and is a real delight on top of knob hill. Bon appetite.

Always a great meal. We were here 10 years ago and our waiter who has been there for 30 years remembered us. Very intimate restaurant and a great value. A definite must to try. Bon appetite

We have eaten here before and really liked it. But, it has changed so much. The service we experienced was horrible. We waited 15 minutes for a glass of wine, etc. The food was fine but by the time our entree came we had completely lost interest in dining there. We were in San Francisco to experience the beauty of... More

This small restaurant has the feel of a genuine French cafe. Small, cozy. Good food, Great service and wine. Waiter was great and his wine suggestion with recommendation of another customer was perfect with our meal.Presentation and portion were great. We went at the right time as easily able to carry on a good conversation...getting more crowded when we left.... More

This is a small hole-in-the-wall French restaurant in Nob Hill, an easy walk from Union Square. It is so small that the kitchen is right there in the dining room. I have been there three times and never a bad meal. The owners (2) are friendly and accommodating. The food classic french, yet fresh and creative. I recently had lamb... More

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
