A Memorable Experience

When we visit San Francisco from Iowa, we always stay at the White Swan or Petite Auburge on Bush Street and years ago we happened upon the Rue Lepic because it is only a block away. We never miss the opportunity to eat there with each visit. This year the chef came out to greet us and personally... read more

Service was exceptionally slow. We were seated for nearly half an hour before anyone came to take our wine or food order. We ordered a salad and entree each. The salad was very mediocre - and both looked and tasted like something my frugal grandmother would serve. While the duck itself was fine, the orange sauce tasted more like a... More

The concierge recommended this restaurant near out hotel. We had high expectations that were not met by the plain meal that was served. I know there are people who loved this place in the reviews, but this restaurant did not meet our expectations. The flavors were nearly tasteless in the lamb ordered. The service was slow but attentive. There is... More

Three of us went here for dinner, as it was close to the " Messiah " concert at Grace Cathedral. We did enjoy the food, although the filet that I had did not seem typical of that cut, so I agree with a previous reviewer. It was tasty enough and my friends enjoyed the salmon. But the service left something... More

We always try to to sample a new (to us) restaurant when in SF & this time it was Rue Lepic which may turn out to be our new SF fave. Wonderful location handy to all the Nob Hill grand hotels, this is a great alternative to hotel dining. The prix fixe menu is the most extensive recently encountered &... More

This restaurant could not handle our party of five. In between the time we ordered and our food actually arrived, the rest of the restaurant was seated, ordered, was served, paid their bills and left. When we asked where our foods was after more than an hour, the servers argued with us. The "filet mignon" was not an actual filet... More

The food was amazing. The service was great. I had the duck and it was perfectly prepared. I would strongly recommend this place.

If I could give a 6 star rating, I would give it to this restaurant. We were warned by the hotel that it was small and it would be best to book, so we did ... and it was a good job that we did as the restaurant was fully booked for the early evening and they were waiting a... More

I found this restaurant for the first time three weeks ago was treated to one of the finest meals I've ever had. This is a small place, but I was seated as a party of one. Tonight, I went back by myself and there must have been at least 15 open seats, but was turned away at the door. Indeed,... More

This small gem is hidden one block down from Nob Hill. It offers excellent service, exquisite dishes in a relaxed intimate atmosphere. There is a chefs menu or you can order ala carte, the selection is impressive for a small, open kitchen. I also love the eclectic mix of customers.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
