Friendly atmosphere and great food

Been here a few time now and have never been disappointed. Family run and a very comfortable environment. The food here is really good. Great service and reasonable prices. My favorite is the Butter fish and Chilean Sea Bass. One of my Fav's

I have been going to the restaurant for over 20 years. Surprisingly, it has not gotten worse. It got better. In the beginning I was not much of a fan of their sushi. But over time they got better and better. Rolls like Love on Fire, Cajun Roll and many others are delicious. And their Chilean sea bass is awesome.

It has been months since we came here for a meal. We ordered wifey's favorite fish dish: Orange roughy and I got Tempura Udon and Agedashi tofu for appetizer. She liked the fish, and mine was just ok. I have had better tasting meals in the past. I noticed the cooks to be younger; perhaps the veteran chefs were on... More

We were invited to dine at Taraval Okazu Ya.Parking is somewhat difficult as there are only off street parking. It's SF so meters are expected. It's not a hole in the wall restaurant but more of a family owned restaurant. We were waited upon promptly and the food came in a very timely manner. It was crowded. The Miso soup... More

We had originally planned to dine in at Kingdom Of Dumplings next door, which was however already closing, when we arrived, so we went to this place and did not regret it. The restaurant is really charming and slightly chaotic. The staff is beyond friendly and eager to ensure you feel welcome. Food is decent although not outstanding and very... More

We visited this restaurant with a local who has been eating here for years. He suggested the 49'er roll and it was honestly the best sushi I've ever eaten. Everything we tried was good, but the salmon, with the paper thin slices of lemon and lime, was simply awesome. If I lived close by I would eat here all the... More

From the edamame (dry) to the shrimp (flavorless) to the salmon roe (over-ripe), the food was at best mediocre. Perhaps an off night for the establishment? Still, the table faced the kitchen operations, which were none too tidy and certainly unappetizing. An unfortunate experience.

We stayed in Sunset District for the weekend and did not think we could have good sushi. Just by chance we found this place and it was really wonderful. It was very busy and the waiters were all very attentive making sure everyone was taken care of. Food was great and reasonable price. It is not a fancy place but... More

Excellent restaurant in the Sunset....been going here for years but have never gotten around to reviewing it. First of all, the sushi is outstanding (usually get tekka maki and unagi maki); very fresh and reasonably priced. The meals are also outstanding....they post the fresh fish daily on a board....always great. The meal comes with soup, salad, rice and ice cream;... More

Very nice place (there is a sister place several blocks away), not fancy, but always full, excellent seafood dishes, fresh fish, great taste, excellent sushi rolls, great service too. Not exactly cheap, bu well worth it!
