After a long meeting at Hastings College, my classmate and I went down the block to Lalita Exotic Thai Cuisine & Bar Restaurant, 96 McAllister Street. The front door opened to a bar and there were just a few people there during dinner time. We were directed to a large dining area where there were few diners present. Maybe 4... More

We were walking around near our hotel looking for somewhere half decent and not to pricey and stumbled upon this place. Menu had a great selection and the food we ordered was delicious, fresh and roasting hot, a credit to the chef. portion size is spot on We also ordered cocktails which are quite well priced (approximately $8 each and... My wife and I visited the Tenderloin District in San Francisco and were looking for a place to eat. The neighbourhood is rough there but we found this restaurant within walking distance of our hotel and decided to try it. The Crispy Fish with Garlic sauce was excellent as was the Stir fried Tofu (similar dish) that my granddaughter had.... More

My husband and I had a craving for Asian food and were heading for Little Saigon from our hotel on Howard St. We also love Thai and walked by this restaurant and thought hey lets stop here instead of walking all the way to Larkin St. It happened to be happy hour and we ordered several small plates. The Thai... More

Found this place for dinner while staying at the Holiday Inn Civic Center. It was within walking distance from the hotel. The portions were a bit small, but food was great.

They add a statutory tip so i guess they know how bad their service is , food good but expensive for what looks like a student cafe.

Lalita was just a few blocks from hotel and Davies Hall so we gave it a try. Interior was very nice, not too bright, nice decor. Service very good but we couldn't really understand the server's small talk because of her accent. Excellent spicy sour soup, green papaya salad one of the best we've had; seasonal pumpkin curry was fresh,... More

Civic Center isn't the dining nexus of San Francisco and finding a decent restaurant between fast food on one hand and super-expensive bistros on the other can be difficult. If you want a well-priced and tasty meal in the area, Lalitas is a good choice. The choices on the menu were extensive, the service was very friendly, and the food... More

Reliably good, not remarkable, food and service. One of the only relaxing lunch spots in Civic Center.

OK -- this is a decent Thai place, but by no means a 4 or 5 star meal. Also, this is not a Hayes Valley Restaurant. It's Civic Center at best, Tenderloin at worst.
