Chef Nei Chia Ji at Jai Yun is a marvelous artist with food. Jai Yun doesn't offer a printed menu listing food choices. The menu is the food that the chef finds at the market that morning, so all ingredients are fresh. (That's also why the restaurant wants reservations, not drop-ins, so that the chef has an idea of how... More

We went with a group of 8 and ordered the $120 dollar per person menu. It was the same vegetables and sauces repeated over and over. The famed abalone was mixed with egg white and you couldn't tell the difference between the two. The spicy dishes were one note spicy and the rest were just bland and tasteless. Not a... More

I had been there years before with my then boyfriend for a business dinner. We went again now that we are married to experience it again!! The food is outstanding. The tastes, the textures the presentation is wonderful. The price for two has gone WAY UP to $98/pp. So my suggestion is to take a large group of 6 or... More

We didn't realize it was $98 per person when we booked our reservation so we were initially shocked by the price. However they opened the restaurant just for us and the chef served us. We had 11 courses. The food was fresh, flavorful and unique. It was worth the experience. It was also BYOB.

Strange place. Only menus based on price, we had no idea what would be for dinner. Expensive ($80 is cheapest menu). Interior has no atmosphere at all. They only cook for people with reservations and the odd ones that walk in are shocked when they see the prices and walk out again. So the place is practically empty and we... More

One word! Horrendous Jia Yun failed miserably in every respect. For a hefty price tag of 80++ per person, the ambience was non existence. The food was mediocre and was therefore a major rip off. The taster menu was mainly made up of various vegetable dishes using the same sauce over and over again. The only highlight of the day... More

We followed the suggestion in the Lonely Planet Guide which indicated a price for the fixed menu at approximately 45 USD. In fact the minimum price for two people is 80 USD and if the party is larger the minimum price may be as low (!!!) as 55 USD per person. Without beverages. And I would have never entered the... We have been there with two kids (13& 10 ) old . Both were charged ,one as adult, one for the half price ( 65 and 33 $). They ate nearly nothing, because the food was cooked with very special flavours and Ingredients. Although we told in the beginning ,that it would Be difficult with the children due they are not... I'm not even quite sure where to begin here. Let me preface by stating that I've eaten some wonderful food in my life, and have never been inclined to write a review on yelp. I initially spotted Jai Yun in a book I picked up in the area-- eat. shop. San Francisco. Once I read about the unique nature of... More

Having read about Jai Yun in a couple of guide books, we knew going in that it would be a unique dining experience. It was, but not in a positive way. As described in other reviews, we picked a price-point and waited expectantly for the chef to prepare our feast. We chose the lowest price-point of $55 per person, assuming... More
