A nice surprise

We stopped in for lunch and had some excellent sandwiches. It wasn't crowded and the service was very good. Away from the Pier 39 madness, so take a walk and enjoy a nice lunch.

We were in a bit of a rush to catch our tour and the staff were very accommodating. Crab chowder, Caesar salad and crab cakes were very good. Quaint maritime and period decor.

We stopped in the Blue Mermaid late in the evening for a light dinner. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a selection of starters from the menu, no trouble at all and no pressure to order more than required. We shared a half dozen oysters, prawns and a 'taster' of 3 chowders, all delicious and good value. Washed down... More

My wife and I were staying at the Kimpton Argonaut hotel and on our second day we were a little tired to go out; so, we tried the restaurant attache to the hotel. We had an excellent appetizer of calamari and then I got the New England chowder on a bread bowl and my wife had the trio sampler. She... More

This was the first time that my sister and I decided to eat crab. Considered as "crab rookies" we had a lot of help from our waiter Brian. He was explaining us everything even though the place was really busy at that time (Saturday dinnertime). They did not have the choice of beer we wanted to try, but he suggested... More

The menu stated the chowder was award-winning, and certainly I can't disagree. I had the crab chowder, which was delicious - served in a bread bowl, that soaked up the juice and I could eat as the chowder level went down. There are some nice craft beers available too. Note that they close quite early (at least on a February... More
