Crab and Corn Chowder

Mixed feelings on the crab and corn chowder. I really enjoyed the chowder, however, my friend said it was just okay. So we've been having this battle about their chowder. The restaurant is connected to a Kimpton property, which means the bathroom is pretty awesome, lol!

Only well after we left this place were we told it was a great option for chowder. We went for the bar. Group of 6, no plans, and already with two previous stops for alcohol under our belts, this looked like a fun place. It's technically part of the Klimpton Hotel there, and I had found their places usually have... More

Award-winning chowder drew us in. We sample three types--NE, CA, and Crab and Corn, which is made with red-peppers. I loved that we could try all three in one appetizer. They were all good quite good. Then we tried the Crab dip and were very disappointed. It tasted very fishy--not fresh, and very dry, not creamy as expected. The service... More

We had several meals there. The corn and crab chowder is superb. With a green salad and sourdough bread, it's perfect. The salmon plate makes a satisfying breakfast. The fruit bowl is fresh and tasty.

We had a cup of the corn chowder and it was very good. We should have stopped there. The crab cakes we average at best and the fries with the fish and chips were cold. The service was poor. Much better restaurants for the same $$$ in the area.

I had the chowder trio with the California, Shrimp and Crab chowders. They were a little thin in consistency. The shrimp chowder was sweet and just average. I had the crab cakes for an entree and found there to be little crab and lots of filler. I guess I am more of a lump crab cake girl.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Blue Mermaid in the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco. The clam chowder I had was excellent and it was served with some of the best sour dough bread I have ever eaten. My husband had the soup trio which he enjoyed along with crab. It was very filling. I... More

Cheryl S, Thank you so much for the review. That sourdough you enjoyed so much is made here locally by a bakery called, Wedemeyer. We are also big fans of their product! We are so pleased to have delivered excellent service. I hope you got a big dose of California sunshine out on our patio. The next time you make... More

The interior of the restaurant looks quite nice. My girlfriend ordered a chicken sandwich and I ordered the tuna sandwich. Both tasted ok. The nasty surprise came however later in the afternoon. I felt ill the whole afternoon and evening.

Nick D, We hope your discomfort has passed. We take very serious, any claim or review, which indicates a potentially dangerous health issue. Upon receiving your review we immediately inspected all remaining and freshly delivered seafood stock; in particular, we closely scrutinized our Ahi. We did not note any issues whatsoever. The temperatures were rigidly maintained, there was absolutely no... More

This restaurant is super convenient if you're staying at The Argonaut. The food was tasty. On the menu, you have an option of trying three of their soups. They have a nice variety and I thought it was a perfect option for a quick lunch!
