Good burger

outdoor seating which we love, made it easy to watch our bikes. Food was not amazing, but pretty good. Gotta get the sweet potatoe fries if you get a burger.

The Re al American Diner, Stainless Steel, Table Top Juke Box, 50s/60s music and food! Plenty of Parking and Fairly priced it is conveniently located on Lombard Street not far from the entrance into the Praesidio.. The food is tasty, the service is fast and it is not too far from all the great stuff San Francisco has to offer!... More

The lunch special was half of a sandwich, salad, and a fountain drink, which was very filling and delicious. The BLT and turkey half sandwich came with fries and tasted great. We also ordered a chicken pot pie and a chicken salad sandwich both delicious. The classic vanilla shake was amazing, one of the best we ever had. The waitress,... More

Found this to be a tourist trap with just ok food for a high price. The service was excellent. Our server was very prompt and efficient. She did a great job. As for the food just was not impressed. Atmosphere was good.

Last August, my daughter Julie, my nephew Johnny and his wife Kathy and their 3 daughters and myself visited San Francisco, CA for the day, we ate lunch at Mel's Drive-In -Lombard, what a great experience, the little girls loved the way their meals were served in small cardboard cars they could keep, and the food we ate was so... The food was good but the service could have been better. No one greeted us when we came in. After about 5 minutes, one of the cooks came out and pointed to where we should sit. The waitresses ignored for a good 10 minutes before they finally took our order. They even served someone that came in after us before... More

Food was okay but we were surprised to see an extra 4% added to the bill. They said it was to pay for the wage increase and Medicare costs and all the restaurants in San Francisco were charging it which was not true. We ate at iHop the next day and they did not charge this 4%.

We loved the 1950's diner style. Cool decor and good music playing. Food was good but a little more than I'd like to pay for a simple open-faced turkey sandwich (but then again, we are in San Francisco & it seems like everything is pricey)! Our waitress seemed less than interested in being here to help but she wasn't rude,... More

I must admit that one of the things that I love the most about visiting the US is food. The American food especially, Diners style is what I don't authentically get outside the US. I stepped into Mel's diner and there I have seen the light. Everything is so freshly cooked, hot and huge (in portions). I will defiantly come... More

We came through here just yesterday and the facade of the place drew us in. We're from England, travelling the US and this place screamed America. It didn't let down! The decor is fantastic, authentic american diner. The staff all excellent. The food, out of bounds. We had the grilled cheese and rib sandwhich, I recommend this.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
