First found this nice restaurant on the corner of VanNess and Geary 15 years ago, right after they first opened. Try to eat here every time we come to "The City." Have eaten at a lot of Persian restaurants and in the homes of many Persian friends. This place is vey authentic and traditional seasoning of the area around Shiraz,... More

This restaurant is located on Van Ness street, which was walking distance from our hotel. The menu stirred our curiosity and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely plate to share that was both wonderfully tasty and refreshing owing to the selection of fresh herbs that accompanied the pieces. Plenty for three as well. Our mains were delicious. We accidentally stopped here as a 'pre-play' dinner (Gough St Playhouse) and were nicely surprised! Good wine list, reasonably priced menu. We discovered Sumac and the waitress so kindly sent us off with a sample. Very pleasant surroundings. They should stick with middle eastern music, though.

We had a late lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is quite attractive and seems very clean. The restrooms are at the end of a long corridor, as this establishment shares them with 2 other restaurants, and, yes, you have to get a key from someone there, as that helps them keep the restrooms clean and secure. I... More

We used to live in San Francisco many years ago and last week we traveled there for a few days and wanted to eat some Persian food. Alborz wasn't around when we were last there and thought that we would give it a try. We were early by Persian standards and were the first diners of the evening. I ordered... More

This Persian restaurant, on Sutter and Van Ness, is highly recommended if you're staying in the neighborhood. We had a selection of appetizers for a late lunlch and enjoyed every bite. One of the best in that part of town. Even if you've never eaten Persian food and are perhaps a bit hesitant, give Alborz a try. You'll be glad... More

It is very difficult to compare this restaurant to other iranian restaurant due to the fact that the number if iranian rest. In down town SF is very limited . I have tried a couple of them & honestly speaking this is the best one . It is a little bet expensive , but for the quality & service it... More

I came to the restaurant after looking for 3 middle eastern restaurants and finding them closed. The food is very tasty and standard persian cuisine - nothing out of the ordinary if you are accustomed to this food. My only complaint is that is was quite pricey - for 2 of us we ordered 2 plates, 2 salads and 2... More

The food is good but not cheap! So, I normally expect the food quality to be good when everything on the menu is pricy. But a few things that add up made me give this restaurant 2 out of 5. They don't have restrooms! You need to get a key and walk a long walk to use a shared restroom.... More

I went there on a Sunday night and was surprised with a great service and great food. The Must-o-khiar and the dough were the best I had. they served it with the real persian lavashak instead of regular Pita which was appreciated. I took the joujeh with baghali polo. It was cooked to perfection and the entire experience was wrapped... More
