We ate here at the recommendation of our guide after we finished a Victorian Home Walking Tour. We browsed the stores on Union street and sought out the restaurant next to the only palm tree on the street. Funny thing is, the sign is facing the entryway. So even though we were standing in front of it- I had to... More

On the advice of a local we visited this great little restaurant - thanks Robyn! Yummy lettuce cups, wok fried cauliflower, calamari and short ribs. Super tasty flavours. Excellent service, reasonably priced. Great people watching place.

Great fusion food, good for sharing, and a pretty decent gluten free menu (if you're in to that sort of thing). They've got some good sakes on offer as well, service was good too.

Really complex flavors, siracha + lemon granita with fresh oysters, avocado mousse worth tuna tartar. Yummy.

My boss said he used to love this place but it isn't the same. I loved being able to eat on the open patio but the food was pretty bland.

Skip this place. It is highly reviewed and was recommended by several other people but they are mistaken or maybe the chef and/or menu has changed since. We had the the calamari and spring rolls which are standard issue nothing special, not bad but would not reorder them, really terrible mango salad, definitely skip this (and I love mangos). Then... From Dave the 'local'. Essentially modern takes on classic dishes and from what we could see done well. Sichuan beans, spiced ribs and calamari the highlights. Most dishes run at $12 to $17. $130 will see a decent night out (with wine) for couples.

A few years ago, the food here was light and creative- and delicious. The chef gradually got tired/ bored, and it lost its spark. More recently, in an effort to reboot, the name and menu changed. Like "new coke", it didn't stick, so back to Betelnut and more or less the old menu - and old problems. Dishes well prepared... More

Around a recent visit by friends and business friends, they asked for something interesting. This is a good choice. The food options are quite varied, with pretty much something for everyone. The wine list is better than average, good selection and not too pricey. Everybody had some trouble deciding (too many choices) but the tapas format helped with that. Everybody... More

This being our first experience with Asian Fusion cuisine, we weren't sure what to expect. Betelnut did not disappoint. The place was packed so the noise level was a bit too much but being we were a small group we were able to sit close to enjoy conversation during the meal. The food was pricey but definitely worth it. Our... More
