Exquisite !!

From the outside, Isa looks like a narrow hole-in-the-wall on a side street in the Marina district, close to a corner with three pizzerias and a Chinese restaurant nearby. Don't be fooled. This is a French-eclectic five-star winner owned by a young chef who trained under Daniel Boulud in NYC and... read more

We had several starters, mainly seafood, every one of them were exceptionally good. I ate chicken with mashed potatoes, it was also really delicious. Highly recommended!

SF is a great city for food and ambiance, but it's expensive. Isa will please on all accounts, except perhaps for atmosphere. The It's hard to pin down the menu--a bit French bistro, some risotto, nothing too self-consciously leading edge or complicated. Just good food, good service, comfortable, and not fiercely expensive. Great for a couple or a large party.

We had a great meal at Isa, grilled calimari, Tuna ceviche, and Alaskan Halibut. The fish were cooked to perfection, and the service exceptional. Strongly recommended.

Location: In the heart of the marina district! No parking lot, but hey it's SF right? What can you say Customer Service: We were instantly seated since we did have a reservation and although we were 10minutes late due to parking issues they were welcoming still! We were seated and kindly greeted by our server who was so sweet! He... More

foie gras, arugula salad, salmon carpaccio, rack of lamb all very good; braised short rib OK, service friendly but can be spotty; ambience: small inside, back outside depends on SF weather, when tent awning closed ambience not great; when open it is better. may return

Forget the trendier listings: Isa delivers new Asian cuisine with terrific imagination and without the usual San Francisco pretentiousness. The seafood here is some of the best to be had in the city. A yellowfin tuna appetizer comes stacked with avocado, seaweed and nouri with sriracha sauce. The sea bass is deliciously wrapped in thin-sliced potatoes, and the delectable scallops... More

Isa is just west of Fillmore and is in the Marina district, but so far west it might as well be in the Presidio. The neighborhood is very trendy and restaurant/bar heavy. Isa's somewhat obscure facade in the midst of this food-lover's haven is far surpassed by its warm and inviting interior, with a walk-by kitchen resembling many a charming... More

eaten here many times, previous review was a 5. However, the last two visits have been awful. Food remains excellent - but the good part of the experience stops there. Menu proudly says "family style, share plates, food comes out when it is cooked" What this means is that a few minutes after your small table is filled with the small... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
