Nice restaurant with good food.

We were nice greeted and seated quickly on a Monday evening. The wait staff was attentive. We both ordered fish (salmon and sea bass) dinners cooked in paper with julienne vegetables and potatoes. Both meals were good and plentiful. We were too full to have dessert. The prices were reasonable... read more

We dined here on our last night in San Francisco and we were delighted. It wasn't what we expected in that we thought it would be one of these slick chain-like restaurants, a bustling place with servers versing a well-practiced generic script, etc, and actually it was much more interesting with it's own unique character and it surprised us in... Visited this restaurant last night with high expectations based on the reviews here & it was terrible. Our group was keen to sample the oysters & other seafood. Our waiter had to check if they had any calamari when we ordered it!! We couldn't get any of the cocktails off the drinks menu only beer & wine available??? There's lots... More

Another great neighborhood type venue that is on the cable car line. Excellent food - great selection and nice wine list. Service was wonderful. Very enjoyable evening - relaxed and comfortable.

We ate here on spring break this year with out teenage daughter. The service and food were excellent. We each had one of the specials and none disappointed. The restaurant was full of who appeared to be locals. Laughter and happy conversations abounded. Highly recommended!!!

I ordered to go and waited at the bar while it was prepared. Just after 5, it was happy hour, so 12 oysters on the half shell for $15.00...an excellent deal. Very fresh, service was good, about 20 minutes for 2 excellent entrees. Try the En Papillote dishes which are their specialty. Very good.

We lived in San Francisco for several years and this restaurant had a very good reputation. Eat there on a recent return trip and had poor service. We both ordered baked fish in paper which they claim as a specialty. My wife's was inedible and my was only slightly better. Service was inattentive at best. Worst dining experience we have... More

A friend was in town for the evening so we selected this restaurant due to proximity to the hotel and the family style to the restaurant. We met at the restaurant, which was not crowded on a Sunday evening. We were quickly seated in a table by the window. The pace was typical for an American restaurant - probably faster... More

The seabass wrapped in parchment paper was amazing! Worth the walk from our hotel. The cable cars run just out the front door as well. Would return!

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
