Exciting place - good food

We have eaten here before when visiting family and love to return when we are in the area. Although it's a tad noisy the ambience is warm and exciting. The menu has many interesting and unusual items and the various foods we ordered were good and fairly priced. Although the wine list is extensive... read more

I have not been to A-16 for a while, but my daughter arranged a birthday luncheon for me with 18 friends. Shelley, the owner, arranged the menu for us. Everything we had was amazing, from the antipasto, beautiful fresh salad with pistachios, incredible pasta with ragu, light and delicious meatballs, excellent pizza with fresh tomato sauce, and then to the... A16 is unlike most Italian restaurants. Don't expect a menu filled with pastas and veal dishes in 10 different preparations. The menu is somewhat electric and the wine list features Italian wines from grape varieties most Americans likely would not recognize. But for the adventurous looking for something different in an Italian restaurant, this is the spot. The space is... More

Me and my wife visit A16 every time we are in the city. The burrata appetizer is always something we order, it's seriously addicting. The fungi pizza is delicious and of course the wine. They have a really good selection of wines from around the world.

The restaurant is not very big, it has a nice atmosphere and the food selection is very good, we enjoyed he wine selection as well. The service was relatively fast even though the place was full.

We loved our pizza and salad selections. We had two different salads, the Kale salad and Citrus salad, Citrus salad won, but both delicious. We ordered two pizzas, the Margarheta and the mushroom pizza, both delicious. The wine list was quite daunting but our very knowledgeable wait person steered us correctly and we were very happy with her selection.

Italian cuisine of the highest order & expansive wine list with a wide choice of Italian wines by the glass, carafe & half bottles too. Portions are very generous; I loved option for "half order" which allows one to try as many choices as one can manage. We did not have reservations; yet, took our chance with a 45 minute... More

Neapolitain style pizza with locally sourced cheese and charcuterie. The pizza dough had a pillow like feel with a crunchy outer layer. Absolutely divine. With the toppings, the simpler the better to allow the high quality ingredients to shine. A+ on the winelist. Nice selection of wines from Naples region to accompany the pizza. Well known Aglianico's and Greco di... More

I dined here a few days ago with my partner. We had great seats behind the pizza oven where we watched the chefs at work! Loved it! Our waitress was very knowledgable, attentive and sweet. She helped us decide on a wine. The radicchio salad was very delicious with plenty to split between the two of us. We ordered the... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
