Description: A16 is a restaurant and wine bar bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy. The restaurant features wood oven-fired Neapolitan Pizza and other specialties of Campania such as Maccaronara with ragu napoletana and house-made ricotta salata. The wine bar serves 40 wines by the glass and half bottle carafe. The list is 60 percent Italian, mostly from the South, and the other 40 percent is New World, celebrating premiere Italian varietals grown in California along with many California wines.

You get fine dining prices and food but in a distinctive San Francisco Marina district style. We brought clients here and they all walked away happy, but make sure that your expectations are set at the right level lest you be disappointed. With one exception the food was excellent. You see below by what we mean by "somewhat funky." Needing... More

Service, wine list and the food are outstanding. I recommend the fungi pizza with pancetta. You will not be disappointed.

Very expensive. Service was very lacking. Sat at the chefs table...(counter watching the kitchen) which is usually a good spot. Server basically ignored me for 10 minted after I was seated. Was about to leave and a manager came over and took care of me. Food was not nearly as wonderful as in previous visits

On our last night in SF, we went to A16. What a disappointment. The decibel level made having a conversation next to impossible. But I guess that's a sign of a good/popular restaurant. So this must mean great food and/or great value. Wrong on both counts. Wines are seriously overpriced. The California Cab that we ordered was just plain awful.... More

The secret here is: despite catering to a posh audience, it really is not so pricey. The service was efficient and pleasant. Appetizers were fair values. Companions loved their lamb and steak entrees. The burrata was a pleasant, decadent surprise. The pizza, despite their own ovens, was soft and undercooked. I suspect it is not usually that way. We had... More

Delicious pizzas and great value for money! However, bottles of wine expensive and small range. A pizza is on average $18 and a bottle of wine is minimum $45.

We recently visited San Francisco for a short stay before sailing to Alaska and had heard wonderful things about A16. Having recently traveled throughout Italy on a food and wine tour, we were curious to find pizza like we had in Tuscany and Sicily. A16 definitely exceeded our expectations. The wood fired pizza was thin crusted, crisp and flavorful....just the... More

After reading good reviews we visited the restaurant on a monday night without reservation and didn't have to wait. Pizza's are very large here and there's a nice selection of wine. Very friendly service.

We did not eat here but only sat at the bar to taste some wine. The bar staff were very helpful in organising a tasting of their us wine selection. Nice atmosphere, really buzzy on a Tuesday night

We went to this restaurant not knowing what it would be like. It is expensive but worth it! The pizzas are really amazing! I would recommend ordering one pizza at the time, share it and order another one. The service really depends on which waiter you have: it can be really good or really bad. We had a bad one... More
