Tasty Tapas and Airy Atmosphere

Have been here a number of times. I love their meat plates, as well as their patatas bravas. I also like the friendly atmosphere and the fact that it has huge bay windows. Andy has always been nice to us!

We waited for the restaurant to open at 5.30 as they don't take reservations. More than half of the crowd were regulars who were greeted by the owners warmly. It was full by 6PM. We had excellent tapas and four glasses of good Spanish wine and were out the door by 6.30. The next time we will not order all... More

I have been going to this restaurant for years, and the food never disappoints! They have best tapas and small plates in the entire bay area! Believe me I have tried them all. I would recommend this place to anyone who asks because it is that good. Only one small thing, it doesn't take reservations so if you do not... More

This place has been on our bucket list for the last several trips to SF. We finally made it and are so glad we did. They serve some of the best Tapas we have had in the US and several were simply outstanding. My favorites were the grilled calamari in aioli sauce, the roasted red peppers, and the baked goat... Walked in with my honey on a Thursday night, table for two, not a problem. We started with Spanish beers and then had garlic shrimp, yummy bread to soak up the garlic oil, braised quail and serrano ham with bread spread with a tomato jam... I loved winding the ham around the bread,, so good,,, like an esquisite BLT...We always... More

You can't book tables here which is a real nuisance. We arrived around 7pm and didn't get to eat till about 830. The food and service was good and both food and drink served without much of a wait. Although it was good, I don't think I'd go again given the long wait time.

We were recommended this restaurant by the concierge at the hotel. What a great find. First time I have had Spanish food and this was great. We celebrated a friends birthday and she was sang to in Spanish. Made for a great evening. I highly recommend this restaurant for great food.

Feels like you are having Tapas in Spain. The servers have worked here forever and make it feel like it is a bustling Spanish eatery. The food is very authentic and very good. There is a line up at the door when they open at 530 but tables turn pretty quick. No reservations. A fun place for a date or... More

I lived in Spain many years ago and my husband and I enjoy traveling to Spain whenever possible. We are from New England and we were vacationing in San Francisco. We found Zarenzuela on a Sunday afternoon while they were closed. After reading the menu we patiently waited until Wednesday evening when we would be able to dine there. We... More

No reservations taken but lovely place for tapas or Spanish dinner. This place has the best Gazpacho that I've ever had! Chorizo is also amazing. Great atmosphere though sometimes a little noisy. I'm a huge fan of this place. If you are lucky, one of the waiters will sing. Great staff & food generally comes pretty quickly (nice if you... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
