A Neighborhood Gem

A neighborhood classic, little has changed in many years. And let's keep it that way! Great outdoor seating. Wish the indoors had better ventilation. Always enjoyable.

It must be 10 years since we first stumbled on this quintessential SF bistro, but we always return on our annual pilgrimage to this city. It's small, cozy and buzzing with talk. The menu is relatively small but boasts enough choices to keep everyone, including vegetarians, happy. The wild-caught salmon was perfectly cooked, and the Meyer Lemon olive oil custard... More

My wife and I had 5 hours left in SF, so we headed back to Union St to cruise the neighborhood. It was about brunch time so we saw a few people waiting outside, which is a good sign. We put our name on the list and had about a 15 minute wait. Once seated the line outside grew to... More

Dinner at Rose's Café was absolutely sensational! We had the grilled romaine salad, the salmon for my wife and the amazing roasted chicken for me and we shared the roasted cauliflower and the crispy polenta with mushrooms - everything was tasty and professionally served. Yes, we ordered too much food and had no room for dessert. Too bad - they... More

Breakfast pizza and fresh squeezed OJ were yummy. I would definitely go here again. Not too pricey either!

We wanted to have something healthier for breakfast and found this place. Their home-made granola are must-have. The stuff we tried were very fresh, the portions were reasonable and the service was good. Since we went early enough, there was no waiting line and our food was served very quickly. We enjoyed the meal and had a wonderful time.

Worth a visit. Homemade granola, pastries and goodies in a nice homely place. Would revisit in an instant.

Rose's offers a creative breakfast menu, great indoor/outdoor atmosphere, and excellent service. If you are looking for an escape from typical crowded SF tourist traps try this special neighborhood restaurant--and neighborhood--and you may begin to understand why people love this city.

While driving around SF and having fun going down the STEEP hills of San Francisco, we found Rose's Cafe and stopped for lunch. Parking is a pain, but that is everywhere in SF, so have quarters (just buy a roll) or the parking app ready to go. The cafe has a lovely Parisian feel but with a slightly more modern... More

Rose's Cafe is one of the few interesting places left in the increasingly homogenous Cow Hollow district of San Francisco, with its endless procession of nail salons, workout clothing stores, coffee shops (and of course the pony-tailed blondes who frequent them). The baked goods are crisp and flaky, and the breakfasts are sized for any appetite. The granola with fresh... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
