The food was fabulous. The chef came to our table to ensure we enjoyed it, which was a classy touch. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous. If you like French food, La Folie is an excellent choice.

Transcendent describes the truffle menu currently on offer. Have not encountered a French restaurant outside of France with this quality of cuisine. To experience the guinea fowl with chestnut farce is as if you are seated in a restaurant in Burgundy with a gifted chef who lives to make your taste buds dance. Do not miss this restaurant. It truly... More

Visited with table of nine. With that many people we had almost everything on the menu. All was excellent, as were suggested wines. Of particular note was the duck... That said, one of our group is a smoker. She dutifully went outside after the meal was over and the rest of us were finishing up coffee. Apparently she was closer... More

We had seen this was highly reviewed and seemed to offer the ambiance and drink selection we were looking for last Friday to continue our Halloween pub crawl. However, we were mistaken. To start, my friend walked outside to puff on his vapor pen when we arrived to the bar. He was at a fairly large distance from the entrance,... More

Phenomenal service and excellent French fare. Had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings--all untried wine labels for me but all exceptional. Would definitely go back when in SF again. Well deserved Michelin star.

This was our first try at this highly touted restaurant. We thought the service and ambience were very good. Unfortunately the food just didn't live up to our expectations. Aside from the fact that the amuse bouche were wonderful, the Bay Scallop starter was way overly salted, almost to the point of being too difficult to eat. The meat dishes... More

The wines were quite special as were the early courses. The duck was not good. The snail dish I recommend to snail and marrow lovers. It is served in a marrow bone and is quite spectacular. There was an egg offering sreved in an egg elegantly. The price is high and almost worth it. To get away with less than... More

La Folie has such a stellar reputation, I came to dinner there with high expectations for a wonderful dinner with impeccable service. The food was very good, but frankly not very interesting. My husband had the duck (very, very good), and my lamb was good, but again, not memorable. I can't even remember the other courses, which I guess speaks... More
