It is a charming, intimate restaurant with an Italian staff, top quality ingredients, homemade pastas, exceptional veal, polenta, risotto, and fresh seafood delivered daily, served in warm surroundings. Known as the "hidden jewel of Russian Hill" The San Francisco Chronicle calls Milano "one of the most consistent restaurants in the city".

Excellent food and service. Also good choices for my teenagers. Definitely an enjoyable experience on my recent trip.

Have eaten here several times and food is always great. There is a basement eating area as well as upstairs. Noise level is manageable for a group to converse. Service was attentive. Casual atmosphere.

This is a small Italian restaurant on the border of Nob Hill and Russian Hill. It's family owned and consistently has excellent service and simple delicious Italian food. It's perfect for a romantic dinner or if you have parents or friends coming into town that want to experience SF food that isn't touristy. Prices are reasonable, but not cheap. Be... More

My friends and I make a point of dining at Ristorante Milano each time we are in San Francisco. The food is incredible, the service frendly and impeccable, and overall it is one of the best dining experiences I can remember. It's nice to be recognized after several visits, but we were treated like regulars from the very first visit.... More

Definitely a neighborhood restaurant, lots of the customers seemed like regulars to the staff. For an appetizer I had the Bresaola Valtellinese (a cured beef thinly sliced topped with arugula and grana padana cheese). This was fantastic. I had the lamb chops and my friend had the veal scallopine for our main course. I thought my lamb chops were a... More

This small, cramped neighborhood place seemed to cater strictly to locals (we are from out-of-town). My husband had the Tonnarelli which he said was gummy and the sausage was very hard to find in the cream sauce. Our son had the Fettuccini Milanese, which he said was good but the pasta had a combination of both flour and spinach noodles.... More

We had a really fun dinner here with a group of friends for a special occasion celebration. Food - I loved the mushroom bruchetta, we also had beet salad and the cheese/arugula salad which were good but the mushroom was DIVINE. Gnocchi was really good too, and the deserts if you like that thing are awesome so save room!! Service... More

Went here last night and it was charming. Very small and cozy. They squeezed my family in. They were very friendly indeed. The food was excellent. Very nicely cooked traditional Italian pasta dishes. They adjusted the food to suit my two young daughters. All in all we had a lovely evening and I would heartily recommend this place.

The gnocchi and tiramisu were highly recommended by others. I tried both and they were delicious. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming. When I come to SF, I like to try at least one new restaurant each time since there are so many wonderful restaurants in this city. This was my first time at RM and I loved... More

This tiny (reservations a must) restaurant serves exceptionally good food at truly modest prices. Our menu choices included a delicious veal dish, fresh seafood and well selected bargain wines. Staff is gracious and friendly casual. I am so looking forward to repeating the experience. The interior is old and tired but the food, wine and service more than compensate.
