A colleague made a reservation for this place as a base for a business meeting over dinner. We started early, around 5:30 PM and the restaurant was empty. It didn't take long to fill with what appeared to be locals living in this rather quiet part of San Francisco. We had the premier bay window table for four, a bit... More

NOT! none of the things we selected from the menu had a remotely Italian taste. Burrata, supposedly made in the restaurant (not possible, the burrata is not something that you improvise in the back of a kitchen) is at most a stracchino (soft cheese from the North) served on a bruschetta made with such a hard crust bread that is... Nice location in Russian Hill and we picked this after good reviews. The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was great. Good menu choices and food so overall a great meal which deserves 4.5 rating

I found this restaurant in the TA forum. It said that one thing that one must do is go for cocktails/sundowners at the Top of the Mark and then go to Frascati for dinner. Four of us were pleased that we followed the advice. We were upstairs in a little alcove with one other table - just 12 seats total.... More

Family visit for dinner whilst visiting San Francisco. Not an extensive menu but sufficient selection to meet most preferences. We shared smoked salmon bruschetta and the octopus salad followed with pork chop, chicken (very tender) and duck. Frascati does have an extensive wine list. Service was exceptional. We found the defining to be great value for money for the quality... More

I'm really not a chicken fan, but after having had Frascati's version, I am a convert! The food is overall excellent, and the desserts, made by the owner's wife, are to die for! Service is great and staff very friendly. For a "lone-rider", the bar is a great place to eat. The restaurant is generally very full, so reservations are... More

The pate was exceptionally good..flavore and texture to die for! the servers recommendation of cava matched well. Second courses of wild mushroom risotto and duck were also very well done. Ordered a glass of Syrah for the duck and noticing it was corked, asked server if she thought that was what was supposed to smell like. She immediately took the... More

This is a lovely neighborhood spot, very comfortable and elegant. the menu selections were inspired. We shared the fois gras which was divine. The Wild Mushroom Risotto was delicious (it might have made me swoon but just fell short) and my husband ate the duck breast which was brilliantly plated and delicious. Excellent service. My husband noted his glass of... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
