I'm really not a chicken fan, but after having had Frascati's version, I am a convert! The food is overall excellent, and the desserts, made by the owner's wife, are to die for! Service is great and staff very friendly. For a "lone-rider", the bar is a great place to eat. The restaurant is generally very full, so reservations are... More

The pate was exceptionally good..flavore and texture to die for! the servers recommendation of cava matched well. Second courses of wild mushroom risotto and duck were also very well done. Ordered a glass of Syrah for the duck and noticing it was corked, asked server if she thought that was what was supposed to smell like. She immediately took the... More

This is a lovely neighborhood spot, very comfortable and elegant. the menu selections were inspired. We shared the fois gras which was divine. The Wild Mushroom Risotto was delicious (it might have made me swoon but just fell short) and my husband ate the duck breast which was brilliantly plated and delicious. Excellent service. My husband noted his glass of... More

Went here with a business group and a whole range of eaters -- some foodie, some less so. The menu isn't terribly extensive but even so, everyone left pleased. The interior is on two levels, but intimate on both, and by modern restaurant standards, fairly quiet even when full (which it always is). Works for couples as well as business... More

This beautiful neighborhood bistro is small but the noise level is low. It could be intimate or good for a business meeting. Menu doesn't have a huge selection but a great variety that should make everyone happy. We had the Foie Gras, Steak Tartare, Octopus salad and the grilled bread salad....all were delicious. We each had a different Main course...the... More

Roaming Hyde St and Union St later one evening, we came across this restaurant. What a find! Luckily they had a table for the two of us and we enjoyed a great dinner. The menu is not overly long, but offering something for every one. We enjoyed a salad with pulpo which was delicious and so was the mousse of... More

My husband and I phoned at the last minute and had the option to eat at 530 or after 8. Since we had been walking all day we were hungry and eagerly accepted the early time. Can't say enough about the friendly but professional service. Our food was extremely well prepared and presented. The steak tartare was the best I... More

We followed the suggestions of many reviewers and decided to have dinner at Frascati's. We were not disappointed. The meal was wonderful, and service was great. The atmosphere is quaint, neighborhood cozy, and worth the walk. We hopped a cable car back to our Union Square location and loved the entire evening.

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
