Exceptional Meal on Russian Hill

Still the best place on Russian Hill. Went back for dinner during our visit to SF and just loved it. The food is fantastic and the service wonderful. You should definitely try the pork chop, to die for and the octopus salad is wonderful. My wife had the chicken and she raved it as the best... read more

This little gem was suggested by friends of ours who used to live in the Bay Area. It does not disappoint. It reminded us of some of the special little neighborhood gems you can find in Manhatten. Excellent food, amazing waitstaff. Highly recommend that you make reservations. Will definitely return when in SF again.

Cozy two-level ambiance with simple, well-crafted menu. Enjoyed the octopus salad with chorizo vinaigrette and spring risotto. We had requested a special table well in advance to commemorate a special occasion, but the host didn't seem interested that we had a reservation, although did let us choose a table to our liking.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal here one evening. It was about a 15 minute walk from the Fairmont for us. We had a beautiful little table for two on the upper level overlooking the floor (and kitchen) below. It was fun to watch the food preparation going on! We started with the cheese plate which was wonderful. I thought the... More

We come here often and end ordering the same items most of the time. This time we had the octopus and duck confit salads and shared the beef pappardelle. All are excellent, but the homemade pasta is tough to beat. We paired it with two glasses of barbera. We sat at the bar and service was excellent.

Good food and service. One of the best meals during our 16 day trek across the USA. My only other significant comment (not criticism) is the inclusion in the wine list of a fairly mundane Sancerre at the apparent exclusion of one of the many good local white wines of a similar price we tried elsewhere.

Fun, busy little Italian restaurant. Was very full when we were there, but we still received nice service. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great red along with our wild mushroom risotto which was delicious!

Yes, I'll call it, scream it, do whatever I can to let anyone and everyone know who's willing to listen - BEST MEAL of our whole trip !! I can still taste that pork chop a week after having it. When you combine all the elements of a solid restaurant, the ambience, the service, the food - you get Frascati... More

My partner had picked this place for his birthday dinner before we left Edinburgh. What a great wee find! Very nice welcome from the super friendly staff. Service is also very good. Very busy restaurant - guests were in casual or smart dress. My partner started with a steak tartare followed by a chicken dish. Said both were great. I... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
