A hidden gem

Walking in the area trying to find a restaurant on a Friday night; everything LOUD, packed. Saw Frascati and lucked into a table. A more mature crowd (meaning you could hear yourself talk). The service is outstanding since the servers all police each others' tables; our waitress heeded our request... read more

The location is perfect: corner building in a beautiful neighborhood. We had a window table on an evening when we did not have a reservation but we were early and the owner was kind enough to seat us. The room is decorated with careful attention to every detail. The bar is lovely and the food was great but I loved... More

Frascati's is one of our old standbys in SFO. It's a great neighborhood place on the Powell & Hyde cable car route. In fact that's how I first found it. We were on the cable car headed over to Fishermans Wharf and saw this charming restaurant. We've been going here regularly over the years whenever we're in SFO. It never... More

An extraordinarily pleasant experience! The menu items we selected were extraordinarily 'yummy', the wine appropriately priced & the service was attentive without becoming intrusive. Could not recommend it more highly!!

We dined at Frascati in January '15 and had a lovely night. It is a small and cozy but buzzy neighbourhood place. We were seated on the second level in a dimly lit back room, which unfortunately didn't have the energetic atmosphere from downstairs. Other than that the night was great. Lovely food- would recommend the grilled bread salad to... More

Small but very cozy place in SF and definitely worth a visit. Great food, lovely wine list and the best service! Also close to Polk street - so enjoy the food and then go for a late night drink afterwards.

Probably my favorite restaurant in the United States. The service is unbeatable and the decor in the restaurant is beautiful. The food is wonderful and the ambiance is fabulous. My favorite dish is the fresh pappardelle. (melts in your mouth!)

We have dined at Frascati for many, many years, always 5-star, but this visit was 2-star. We asked if owner changed recently, couldn't get an answer. Issues were: too fast a pace of service, over-cooked entree, down-graded wine options. The biggest issue was the manager at the door watching diners way too much, and audibly frequently hustling staff to clear... More

This is a fairly small restaurant located in the Russian Hill neighborhood, right off the Hyde cable car line. There are a few tables outside, which would be great on a nice day. We sat inside and thought the atmosphere was very nice. We had three courses and a bottle of wine and each item was exceptional. Everything on the... More

By chance, we jumped off the cable car and met a neighborhood resident close to Frascati. She raved about the restaurant and we were able to get a nice table for two. People working there are attentive, but the feel is relaxing and casual. The restaurant is a classic bistro serving all kinds of comfort food, fish, pasta. I would... More

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
