great place for fine dining while in SF

The experience was delightful. The wait staff couldn't have been more helpful. The suggestions had a nice balance of familiarity and adventure. The cheese course with the presentation of the varieties available was particularly intriguing. A very fine place for a special dinner.

My wife and I had an evening meal here whilst on honeymoon in San Francisco. The food isn't cheap but sometimes you need to spend a little more to get a great experience. The Sommelier (Jeremy) is fantastic and managed to match all our courses with some fantastic wines. Definitely worth making the effort to get a reservation if you... More

The food was simply delicious and presented with detail and beauty - , the wine recommended was spot on - ,and the service was gracious, and the attention to detail was obvious - the service was seamless as experienced with the meal- truly what a dinner out should be :)

Although it may be difficult to get a reservation unles you planned about a month ahead, yet, when you get one, you can expect consistent quality in both food and service. I have never been disappointed anytime. For the quality you receive, it is the "best bang for the buck". The menu allows one to select 3, 4 or 5... More

On a busy street corner near Ghiradelli Square behind painted glass windows is an elegant restaurant sophiscatedly decorated. The highlight is the menu where you order by the number of courses - three, four or five courses or the prixe fixe menu. Surprisingly, you are not required to select from each category. If you want you can order five seafood... More

Gary Danko to be a bargain on the wallet for Michelin star rated and top 100 bay area restaurant. Overall experience is consistent for an establishment over 15+ year old. A mainstay on the fine dining scene that rarely disappoints with a menu that's highly customizable to your whims. We went as two couples and had a great time!

My son first took me to Restaurant Gary Danko's for Mother's Day a couple of years ago. Now my husband and I return every time we are in San Francisco. I love the creativeness of the menu. You can have one course or 5 courses. You create your own. The staff is warm and attentive. I can't wait to go... More

Did not have a reservation and ended up sitting at the bar (no wait at all). Very friendly and capable staff. Food was excellent and each dish a pleasure. Had the Seared Ahi Tuna with Avocado, Nori, Enoki Mushrooms and Lemon Soy Dressing followed by Coconut Thai Curry with Shrimp, Calamari, Lobster, Scallops, Scallion. My main course was Lemon Pepper... More

Had a great time here with my wife after just arriving in San Francisco. It's a fantastically unpretentious place (British Airways lost all my luggage, so I only had jeans - which made me under-dressed, but nobody batted an eyelid). The food was fantastic, the wine selection was great, and the cheese chap even wrote out a list of great... More
