We were totally rushed to order just as we sat down. Returned an undercooked lobster claw and received a raw lobster claw next, then had to argue with the server until our friends expressed the same finding. The next dish was a new pork/fowl comfit which was tasteless and rejected by me. A terrrible experience. more

We love this place mostly because we got engaged here and continue to return every year. The service and food are consistently The chef is always giving complimentary appetizers or dessert samplers. THE best that San Francisco has to offer. The only drawback is trying to get reservations...need to book at least a month ahead of time. more

We had a fantastic experience! One of the rarest restaurant that offers to pick 3 items from the menu anyway you'd like instead of the usual - one appetizer, one entree and one dessert - if you feel like taking 2 appetizers from the menu, go for it, they will adapt the portion accordingly. The menu selection is great and... more

This place is no.1 for a reason. Simply fantastic food and impeccable service. The price of the winelist (even fairly ordinary wines) will shock Europeans but wine was expensive everywhere we went in California. You won't leave this place disappointed though - a wonderful experience. It was such a nice start to our honeymoon. more

We entered G.D to a cheery host who treated us like royalty. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was unreal. The cheese plate was wonderful. The wine list lacks items below $75. The dessert was excellent. I could not have asked for more. more

We called for our reservation late, only a week or so ahead, and were told that although they were booked, they'd call back after reviewing the schedule. A short time later we were offered a table at the beginning of the requested evening... Our experience was enhanced by the warm manner of the staff on the phone and the engaging... more

I've heard so much about the great service at Gary Danko, but it was missing during our visit. Perhaps because we didn't order any alcohol? The menu's concept is interesting, and I enjoyed the flexibility of ordering from the various areas. However, the poor service ruined an expensive dining experience and we don't plan to return. more

You can't receive better service. The servers are so incredably accomodating. The unique thing about the restaurant is the allowance of ordering different courses in varying size. If you can't make up your mind between bison and quail, order both! They cut down the size so that you can taste both for the price of just one entree! If you... more

Gary Danko is where we go for anniversaries and other special occasions. While there are flashier and trendier gourmet restaurants, Gary Danko never fails to satisfy with classic gourmet food. It's predictable in a good way--you'll never leave wondering what you ate and it's served with the best service in town. more

had a five course meal which was excellent. be prepared to spend around $100 per person. service throughout the meal was great, although when there was a mistake on the bill, the management was not as friendly about correcting it. more
