Excellent 5 Stars all the way

We did not have reservations. We skipped lunch that day and headed over at 5:15 to see if we could snag one of the bar stools that we read about on Trip Advisor. We celebrated my birthday here and I was throughly impressed. The 5 course tasting nenu with wine pairings was excellent. The service was impeccable with perfect timing between courses. The ambiance was relaxing with the restaurant divided into 2 separate dining spaces featuring low lighting and huge vases of fresh flowers. This restaurant will not disappoint!

Restaurant Gary Danko is hands down the best restaurant in San Francisco. I went with a group of friends and we were blown away by the service and the food quality. When you first sit at the table you are greeted by a wine connoisseur. He is solely responsible for pairing all wine in the restaurant and he's fantastic. You... More

Amazing wait staff. So attentive to every course and every customer's need. Amazing tasting menu that was worth the try.

Service is wonderful (they literally come out of nowhere when you stand up!). Loved the decor with the fresh flower arrangements everywhere for an airy and romantic feel, but you can't really get romantic if the table next to you is basically sitting with you. The tables are way too close together, that it becomes hard to converse without eavesdroppers... More

You just can't go wrong here. The tasting menu is great, the wine list is fantastic, the service is white collar and impeccable. I have been here four times over the years. Yes, there are other restaurants better for certain things, but if I had one meal left in SF, this is where I would go. BTW, don't get annoyed... More

Service is superb, friendly, prompt and very attentive. Food excellent, you choose , 3, 4 or 5 courses. My husband had the lobster, and I had the fish. We ate in the room next to the bar and I was facing the bar and it was a bit distracting with all the activity going on. Cheese cart next to our... More

Ten years ago I could only dream that I might one day earn enough to have a dinner at Gary Danko and as it turns out I can now afford to eat here. Okay, not daily, or even monthly, but at least annually. My last time here was a celebration with five of my best clients. The restaurant has understated... More

Yes indeed, this is a lovely place. I was able to make reservations for the same night even though the place was full! Nice. Great ambiance, modern and classic at the same time. Service from staff was impeccable, especially from the sommelier. I had the tasting menu and wine pairing. The construction, flavors, originality - they were all great. I... More
