Went here for my birthday, place was packed and loud. Got the King cut, very good, wanted to take the other half of my prime rib home along with the bone, waiter asked if we wanted an extra slice, said yes and he took our plates and threw the other half away! I asked where it was, in the garbage was... More

House of Prime Rib is a San Francisco classic. Outstanding food, great service and a full bar. Their menu is limited to Prime Rib - four cut options - or the fish of the day. Dinner comes with a salad, Yorkshire pudding (basically a puffy bread) and choice of cream spinach or cream corn. Reservations strongly suggested, as they fill... More

The name says it all. Prime rib to die for. I eat here all the time and will continue to do so as long as they have the best prime rib.

It is hard to get a reservation since it is a tourist destination in SF. Finally got a table on a Saturday evening and was looking forward to it. The prime rib did not disappoint. The fixings were standard and traditional like really good home cooked meal. I did find the restaurant to be a bit noisy and crowded. Not... More

We had been here before, and it is always an excellent experience, but I found the volume of food to be a bit overwhelming. This time I tried the A la Carte option and it was just right. Prime rib is pretty much the only thing on the menu, but they do it so well!

The first time my wife and I ate at the House of Prime Rib was in 1986 and we make reservations every time we our in the city. The prime rib is the best you can get anywhere and service was excellent. Make sure to make reservations in advance!

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
