We were visiting family when my husband noticed this place on our drive. We were told we would never get a reservation but low and behold we got one for 4:30. This place is awesome and well worth the wait. The Prime Rib is fabulous. The menu is small but all they serve is Prime Rib with your choice of... More

Juicy tender slice of Prime Rib for your dinner time .... we went there without reservation and have to wait for about half an hour. We decide to order the big portion with mashed potato and we clean our plate for sure. Our neighbor is actually asking to take away their un -finished plate ..... maybe asian american cannot stand... We showed up at 4:30 on a Sat thinking we could get in early without a reservation. Big mistake. We were told 1.5 hour wait. We sat and saw empty tables that remained empty during our FULL 2 hour wait which was frustrating. Following others suggestions and recommendations, we opted for a split plate. They simply dropped off another plate,... More

We were in San Francisco and this place was described at a "must". We went without reservations and waited at least an hour on a Tuesday night. My husband and I both ate prime rib and it was very good. Also the salad, sourdough bread, baked potato, mashed potatoes, and creamed corn were great. The spinach was gross but we... More

A temple of Prime Rib. And clearly a lot of devoted followers. Tuesday night and packed. Great experience, great servers, very very good beef rib, plenty of it, seconds if needed, good sides, not too pricey and a must if you are a carnivore and in SF. Pretty extensive wine list at good prices not too heavily marked up. I'll... More

A little late with this review. Nice old restaurant with good food. The service was really good too! So much food, I think everyone had enough for lunch the next day!

This place kind of oozes old-school SF establishment. Lets go through the breakdown: 1. Make Reservations - and I am talking months in advance, especially if you want to eat at normal dinner hours and during a busy night (Friday or Saturday). Even with reservations, often times there will be a 10-20 minute wait after your reservation time, so be... More

My husband, 13 year old son and I dined at the HOPR for Thanksgiving. we had 5 p.m. reservations and after the hostess said it would be a few moment, and it was, the bartender greeted us and offered a cocktail. I had the best Cosmo I have ever tasted. The bartender was warm and friendly. We were in San... More

I love old restaurants like this but when you make a reservation at one you usually expect certain things. You expect gimmicks, tackiness, and to eat at a restaurant that is surviving on it's former glory. This was not the case at HOPR. The place is thriving today due to not cutting corners and still pursuing quality in their service... More

Delicious, fantastic food, prime rib, yorkshire pudding, and the fixings...yummy. The service was excellent, even though they were crowded, with people dining at the bar. We were never rushed, and the waiter paced everything perfectly. BTW the Temple of Beef isn't my expression, but rather Anthony Bourdain's, but it fits.
