A little $$$ but worth every delicious bit

Always one of my favorite meals. The Prime rib is cook perfectly and the sides are very tasty. The Yorkshire pudding is a very nice touch. For desert we had the apple crisp and the pecan pie, both were wonderful. Our waiter Frankie was excellent as was everyone who served us. Save up your pennies... read more

Three of us arrived in this very busy restaurant without reservation the waiting time was an hour and a half but where told if we wanted we could eat at the bar. Great idea. Where welcomed by a very friendly barman who explained the concept and he recommended a nice wine to drink by the glass cheaper than buying a... More

The best thing a Tripadvisor review can do is help set your expectation when you visit. I've eaten at HOPR at least 30 times in the last 25 years, including last month. Here's what to expect: -It's a tough reservation. Tougher than it used to be. Used to book a week out, now suggest 3. -It's loud. It's a big... More

I was alone so sat at the bar. The bar tender started by requesting my credit card, he said it was necessary to open an account ! I answered I had only cash and was eventually served. It is my 3rd time at the House of Prime Rib. I definitively like their prime rib. The service is expeditious and arrogant,... More

Location: Right off Van Ness, valet parking available for $10, BUT if you have the time and patients to look for street parking it’s available just look! Customer Service: Right when we walked in to tell them our reservation we were greeted with a “Happy Anniversary”. Nice! We were seated shortly and let me just start by saying Thank You... More

Finally found my way back to this SF dining institution after several attempts to get a reservation in prior visits. This place is difficult to get into if you book less than two or more weeks out. I would caveat the above in that you can 'stand by' to get a seat, but during this visit I heard the host... More

We were visiting SF during thanksgiving and I made reservations to eat here. The food was delicious. My husband had the prime rib and loved it. I had the turkey dinner and loved it as well. The staff was wonderful and so were the other patrons. We had a conversations with a few tables around us. Everyone was so friendly.... More

Old-school, top line prime rib place. It frankly doesn't get any better than this for fun and festive dining and the prime rib is second to none. Only tiny complaint is the bar area is cramped due to everyone waiting for a table, but if you can grab a seat at the bar for dinner you have scored.
