The Palace of Prime Rib

I tried to book this weeks in advance, but they didn't have any openings until January. When I called, the said they do take walk ins or we could get the full menu at the bar. We showed up about 6 on a Saturday evening, they start serving at 5:30, and were told there was a 3 hour wait for... read more

I have been to better restaurant serving prime rib without the rushing, hushing and puffing (I think their goal is to serve three rounds every evening) . Sorry, I like to enjoy my food slowly and the atmosphere is important. For the price I would rather eat at a nice steak house without that many side dishes. We couldn't finish... More

What a nice place! You know that you want prime rib, that’s why you go there. A few selections but not too much to hassle about. Be careful with drinks. We started with a martini and got a shaker’s worth of two large martinis each… Choose your cut, cooking, vegetables (e.g. spinach) and potatoes and you’re done. Well a good... More

Couldn't wait to take our friends here, and the HOPR did not disappoint. Our 3rd time here and expectations were once again exceeded. They are the most consistent restaurant ever.

Good experience overall but I've had better steak's elsewhere We were recommended this place by a friend and also the concierge said it would be in the top 4 of steak houses to go to in San Francisco The decor and experience was nice and worthwhile, but we were all underhwelmed by the prime rib. It was tasty and juicy... More

You must get a reservation to eat here. If you have someone in your group who does not eat Beef ~ they can order a Veggie plate. One of the best Prime Rib dinners I have had.

Went to the House of Prime Rib for a special occasion and was seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. Greeted shortly thereafter at our table, service and attentiveness was very good. A huge fan of prime rib, the serving size and quality of the prime rib was excellent although somewhat pricey. Considering location and service, well worth... More

I'm a native San Franciscian, and now live in Miami FL. I've had the wonderful chance to eat at The House of Prime Rib in the 60's 70's and the 90's. I highly recommend a visit to this fine establishment. They come right to yur table to serve the fresh tossed salad and the fine prime rib with baked potato... More

I highly recommend getting a reservation in advance and this place is always very packed. The prime ribs is very good and you can always ask for a little extra after you finish your first slice. Typically I could barley finish my first slice. Each room has a different style of design which is really weird in my opinion.

If your idea of a great restaurant is one with a menu offering lots of options, this restaurant is not for you. You choose how big your prime rib will be, how well it will be cooked, whether you want mashed or baked potato and although not on the menu, you could opt for creamed corn instead of creamed spinach.... Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
