It's true this place does not need yet another review, what it is and what it offers is well known beyond all borders. It also does not need additional advertising. We tried to book a table one month ahead of the planned date of the dinner and only could secure a slot at 9:00pm. But what it may... read more

This is an experience in itself. My husband and I were recommended to try this restaurant and, if you're a carnivore, it does't disappoint. Well worth a visit if you're in San Francisco. A note of warning - the serves are HUGE (for us Australians).

Like this place needs another review? Not. They have been packed every night for 100 years. Loved this place. Not necessarily because of the food and service, but because this place knows EXACTLY what it is and has been doing it perfectly for so long. There are few restaurants that can claim that. The huge rolling guéridon carts from which... More

This is a restaurant for people with standards, but not high ones. I realised early that absolutely nothing they serve is freshly prepared to order, in fact in the hour and a half we were there nothing had been replenished on the cart. The "chef" appeared to have graduated from the "Sweeney Todd School of Butchery" as I watched the... More

First off, reservations are required (often weeks in advance for larger groups especially), but it is well worth the wait. When our party of six arrived, we were seated almost immediately. The restaurant is very crowded and a little noisy, but we were promptly greeted by our server and made to feel welcomed. The menu is basically four different sizes... More

This has always been my favorite...only last time it was a Sat pm and we had 2 tables and 20 persons and they squished us in the first room and it was loud and horrible and the food was delicious as usual. I was unhappy with the seating and since it was our office staff, very unhappy. They could have... More

I loved the old school feel with waiters doing table side service. I sat at the bar and had a lively conversation with some fellow diners. Meat was tasty and creamed spinach and potatoes were piping hot. Apparently the food is checked with a laser for temperature before it hits the table. Try a Zinfandel by the glass and enjoy... More

This has always been my go to place for prime rib, it is just that good. After all, the restaurant only serves one dish ... you guessed it! Prime rib. You have a selection of cuts, city cuts (for those not too hungry), English cut (thin sliced), house cut (normal cut), and King Henry VIII (for those with large appetite... More

This is a steak restaurant veggies keep away. Huge portions of meat and steak which is divine. If you have a small appetite then you will struggle in here as the portions are huge. I liked the restaurant and the food and waiting staff made it a great night with friends.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
