Always fresh seafood all the time. It tastes great no matter what you order. I usually get the combo salad with shrimp, prawns, and crab meat. This place is the real deal. Expect a line.
Go late in the afternoon (after 3:30) and the wait is manageable. The food is exquisite - the crab salad is an experience and better than any I've ever tasted. Skip the chowder which is not worth filling on. The way to go is oysters, maybe smoked salmon, definitely crab salad and the delicious bread. Enjoy the experience.
We had read all the reviews and were prepared to wait in line to get a seat. However once we did get in, we started questioning whether it was worth the wait. Yes: the seafood is great and fresh, and the staff are lovely, but then we could say that about several restaurants we visited during our recent holiday in... More
This place was worth the wait. We got here half hour before the restaurant opened and I couldn't make the first seating, but it was fine. I had the sea urchin, half crab, oysters, and clam chowder. According to one of the review, they served the brainy part of the crab and I was looking forward to it, but I... More
This is definitly good experience to learn more about Oyster, Blue point is memoriable, BUT the father will be the only person reliable for me, we two got two round of full oyster, the one from the father is much more better than the younger son. Combination salad with smoked salmon and white fish is good, fresh. Clam chowder is... More
I visited for Sunday lunch and arrived at opening time. After queuing for 45 minutes I got a seat at the bar. I took the oysters, chowder and crab salad. The oysters & the crab salad were excellent. The chowder was a little uninspiring. Overall an excellent meal but didn't quite live up to the hype.
We knew we were at the right place by the line outside of the small store front seafood store/restaurant. From reading the excellent reviews before our trip, I knew we would have a bit of a wait. The restaurant had only counter seating which allows you to watch as your food is prepared. As we got close to the front... More
This is an old restaurant that has not changed in over 40 years. It is run by the men of a family in the business for many years--all brothers. The family resemblance is prominent among the wait staff. They are very friendly and congenial. They have a lot of customers who are friends. They appear to enjoy what they do... More
We went after reading all the reviews online and in trip guides. I will say the food is really good, but I have had better fresh seafood in Newport Beach. You need to get to the restaurant really early, or be prepared to wait. Staff is funny and outgoing. However, it is almost like an organized chaos. Bring cash, no... More
