Do not leave San Fransisco without a visit to this place. You understand the meaning of fresh. Best sea food experience with a reasonable price.

I have wanted to go to Swan Oyster Depot for a while. There is always a queue and on this, my first visit the two of us were seated within 10 minutes. Its a long bar so nothing fancy, but everything is done behind the bar and there is a great atmosphere. We had quite a bit to eat and... More

I regularly go to san fransisco for business. I am always looking for the best kept secrets to eat at. The Swan will not let you down. I hate to say it, but it is what it is. The freshest seafoods prepared simply. They all all served cold over ice berg lettuce. Sauces on side. The chowder beats any east... More

I've been dining at the Swan for over 50 years, and have never been disappointed. It's small and without pretense. A row of stools like any other diner, except it's not any other diner. For one thing, the seafood is scrupulously fresh, served up in portions that are priced fairly, and just plain delicious. The clam chowder is without peer.... More

I'm an Eastcoaster (ATL, GA) so when we visited San Fran for my birthday, we got started pretty early for CA/West coast time. Luckily my travel companion was flexible and was ready to jump into something like I was. We drove into San Fran on the pier and hopped the trolley where several of our travel companions (headed to work)... More

Terrific fresh seafood served up by locals in a classic old world way. This is a destination spot for any foodie who loves seafood and especially shellfish like crab and shrimp.

Do not miss if in SF. There's usually a short line outside before opening, and once inside you will know why.

Knew the history and knew about the lines, but did not read reviews prior to going... figured any business that's been around for over 100 years is a proven establishment. Arrived at 1:45 in order to avoid a longer wait. Weekday, last summer. Not bad, maybe about 20 minutes. (SF visitor tip: The CVS across the street sells multi-day MUNI... More

We must have lined up for over an hour, but once inside at the bar it was a very nice experience, very pricey for what you are getting but fresh and worth it.

This restaurant is very hyped up for its authentic neighbourhood feel, staff that speak to you like you're a regular, and fresh seafood. In all these respects, it delivers. However, I'm not sure it was worth the hour and a half wait to get in, nor the prices. Do not expect interesting menu items here. I've done it, but won't... More
