So its a staple you "have to try" so I am told. It is small with only counter seating so be prepared to wait outside on the street seating opens-up. maybe its me but I thought the place was overpriced. I know seafood is expensive and the portions are sizable but your standing in line and sitting at a counter... More

We queued for half an hour or so (including a quick purchase from a high class vintage clothes shop nearby while my husband and son stood in line), and made friends with a Texan/Chinese couple who have eaten at Swan for years. We had crab, we had oysters, we had chowder and all were absolutely delicious. It's isn't remotely fancy... More

This place has very fresh seafood and the people who work there are funny, but it is not worth what you pay!! $30 dollars for 12 oysters is expensive even for SF. Especially since they don't put any of it back into the business!! It is a counter service place that has gone way paced kitchy old. The stools have... More

This place was amazing. Waited in line for about half an hour but it was totally worth it, plus we made some quick friends. But the food was incredible. Oysters might have been the best I've ever had. Salmon was butchered right in front of us. The staff was fun and knowledgeable. Racked up a large bill quickly and would... More

Fresh seafood and great service. Sure, we had to wait in line for a bit but on a nice day that's not chore. Get the Sicilian Sashimi for some of the best fish you'll have and the clam chowder is the best I've ever eaten. Go to Swan, enjoy it, and go back again.

I love the food, fresh fish and soup. Their clam chowder is excellent. Their personal attention and quality of food is very good. Their longstanding ambience some may enjoy. I find the food very good. It is fresh. I only wish the two hour wait standing on the street outside was worth it. The place opened in 1912 and it... More

We waited for almost an hour. The line was deceptively short when we got there but after 20 minutes, the line did not move. Luckily, I had enough juice on my phone to keep my 7 year old occupied and the hubs had a business call to distract him from the wait. When we were seated an hour later, I... More

Definitely have the oysters - beautiful, creamy and fresh. Scallop sashimi was also incredibly fresh and tasty. Also rate the smoked salmon on the rye toast. We arrived just on opening so had to wait about an hour or so but it was a pleasant day and I think the wait made us just hungry enough! Very simple environment with... More

This place is amazing - food, service, and atmosphere. My two friends and I ordered the crab back, oysters, Sicilian sashimi, and the combination salad. The back crab was so creamy and had a wonderful fishy taste. We dipped our bread into the juices and it was absolutely delicious. The oysters were fresh and the sweetest oysters I have ever... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
