We only had drinks but the margaritas and Italian sodas were delicious. the patio was great: sunny and blocked the wind. The bathroom could use a bit of cleaning though.

Went for brunch. Had the oatmeal with maple syrup and the oatmeal was runny and had to ask for the maple syrup twice. Nice location, nice set up, the people seemed friendly but not well trained.

Cafe Flore has been a personal favorite of ours for over 25 years. We stop in for a late breakfast (after 10 am when it opens). It has outdoor seating as well as a cozy ambiance inside. It's easy to converse with neighboring tables and the servers are great. Great experience.

Changed ownership last September and the place looks great. Table service now, and a great menu, lots of choices. Full bar, great service!

It's a funky restaurant but you can't eat the decor! I have to say the food was dead average but the service was FANTASTIC!!! So if you don't care about the food and the most important thing is the setting, location and fabulously fun staff Cafe Flore is for you!!! I would say it's best for drinks. The food such... More

This is “the place.” Apparently it has always been "the place," I just haven't hung out here that much. It was even discussed on the HBO TV Series “Looking.” My friends, the social-transit people who live/work part time in San Francisco along with me use Café Flore as the meeting point, and I have to say, it is that. People... More

A friend and I stumbled upon this quaint joint, following a long walking tour of The Castro district. Encouraged by the large number of "locals" she and I initially stopped at Cafe Flore for only a beer, though left with full bellies and nothing but smiles. A mixed crowd, the friendly, attentive and VERY cute server welcomed us and put... More

This place has a lot of history. Whether you are siting inside or outside, this is where local and tourists converge. It is a great place to meet somebody for a date, or to hang out wth somebody you love.

I have to preface this review with the statement that I have been going to Cafe Flore on almost a weekly basis since about 1991. It is a beautiful space, had a mellow atmosphere and delicious soups, pasta dishes and desserts. It often got crowded and noisy on weekends, so I chose weekday afternoons/evenings when the place had a quieter,... More

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
