We had a party of 4 and unfortunately this small friendly neighborhood eatery DO NOT take reservations. And perhaps I can see the reason why. Seating capacity is limited as it is tucked in the middle of a row of shops along the main Castro street of San Francisco. We were there on a Tuesday evening... and if you know... More

Finished our 3 week stay in SF with dinner for two in the Anchor Oyster bar. Best meal of the trip! We started with a tasting of three different kind of oysters, which was an excelent starter, followed by the Cioppino - a tomato based seafood soup. The Cioppino was FANTASTIC! So tasty! So rustic! So right! No fancy stuf,... More

The food and service was excellent, but foodie-be-ware this is a very small restaurant with extremely limited seating. We managed to get the last 2 seats at the bar, while everyone else was left waiting outside for at least 30 minutes. However, the food is excellent. Very fresh and tasty. The service staff are also very nice and gave us... More

They don't take reservations at this tiny place and it seems to always be packed, what promises fresh food and shows a sign for tasty dishes. We had prawns served with potatoes and roasted vegetables(amazing!), black mussels (wow!!), crab cakes (good) and crab salad (big enough!). I highly recommend this local place for authentic, tasty and filling meal. Server wasn't... More

I went there for the clam chowder but the whole experience turned out to be amazing! The chowder is in fact great but it is just the tip of the iceberg. The greatness of this small and lovely restaurant is showed since the garlic bread, trough the oyster shot and all the other amazing dishes. Get there early because there... More

I went there by myself and I couldnt get a table. The waitress gave table for people after me and didnt allow me to go inside alone. It was very frustraring after more than 1 hour waiting. Very unpolite.

Wow! Amazing seafood. We got this recommendation from a friend that lives in SF. Be prepared to wait, though, we waited 1 hr 45 min. I can't believe we waited that long! There are only 4 tables and around 6 seats at the bar. The chowder and Cioppino was the best we ever had! Oh, make sure you put your... More

Great place. Great seafood. My favorite is the cioppino. The broth is spicy but not too spicy. Lots of shellfish. Heaven in a bowl.

Very small, seems like anyone parties larger than 4 would just be too much(and not allowed). The food is fantastic. We had the salmon cakes, cioppino, the most amazing garlic cheese bread and oh god don't go there without having the clam chowder!!! Mmm... I'd go back just for the chowder. The service was very friendly, not pushy and just... More

This tiny little spot on the Castro has got to be one of the best seafood restaurants that I have ever tried. The New England clam chowder is superb and everything that we ordered was fresh and cooked in a tiny kitchen. We had to eat at the bar but that is where all the action is. We ate here... More
