Fantastic seafood & staff

My family visited this restaurant while in SF and enjoyed it thoroughly. The oysters were fantastic. The chef even took the time to send out orange slices and butternut squash for our cranky 17 month old on the house!

Very delicious and I also like the casual atmosphere. I visited with colleagues from Ireland who also liked all foods. Especially pasta was fantastic taste. I'll visit again.

Came here last Saturday at around 7:00 and waited for an hour for a table for 2,but totally worth it. We had a wine tasting flight in the wine shop right across while waiting which was nice. Everything was amazing! We had the half sampler and the "smaller" cioppino and we couldn't finish it (the rest of cioppino made a... More

Anchor Oyster Bar is a pretty small place (seats maybe 30) that serves terrific food at relatively moderate prices. We had the Anchor Special for $45 (12 oysters -- in this case, local sweetwaters, Kushees and Minnesotas, 12 steamed mussels in a broth and 4 cooked shrimp), and followed it by another 12-oyster platter ($35). The food was absolutely terrific... More

Had the small Cioppino. This seafood medley dish in a tomato broth is so rediculously good. The portion is huge and a small is good for 2 people. The broth is so delicious, I have to say that this is the best seafood dish I have ever had - no kidding! Anchor bar should lisence that recipe out because I... More

What an outstanding little restaurant in the Castro district of SFO! Limited seating but we only waited 30 minutes or so. Loved the service, friendly atmosphere, and the cioppino was amazing; the small one had to be shared between the two of us. Fresh succulent and savoury. The crab cakes were fresh and not at all fishy. Not an extensive... More

Anchor oyster bar has been in business for a few decades and the professionalism and efficiency of the waiters, the speed with which the kitchen responds all attest to a well oiled machine. If you like oysters, they will give you various kinds. Their Cesar salads can for had with seafood and are delicious. So is their ciopinno which comes... More

Had the muscles here, and my God were they delicious! Great garlic and bitter broth, which was excellent to dip the bread in. Restaurant itself was busy but cozy, eating at the bar was fun. Would go again for sure.

Just a few tables along with some seats at the bar provide the charm of this lovely restaurant. This place is focused on the best seafood basics, and the results show. An array of oysters and a few beers were our early dinner, and we were happy as clams (sorry, I couldn't help myself). We would be back regularly if... More
