Small resturant without a crowded feeling. Very cozy. The food was wonderful, we had the trout deviled eggs, sardine crostini and the mac n cheese and they were all wonderful! The foccacia served is to die for. Would definately return!

The food was tasty (try the pork belly), the service was reasonably attentive. I liked it but it wasn't outstanding

I would say, "They've almost got it." Personally I would prefer a different selection, can't really put my finger on it. We started with the Peppers and the truffle and goat cheese brandade. Both very good, actually my favorite part of the meal. The meat lovers were thrilled with their rib eye for two and another companion was pleased with... More

I visited Blue Plate last June and was so impressed that I chose it for my B'day bash this Oct. The meatloaf is killer. I have a healthy appetite, and cannot finish it all, which is fine 'cause I love a meatloaf sandwich for lunch. The mash potatoes and green beans are a perfect combo to this 50's classic. I... More

I m not one to go for 'American Comfort Food' as it tends to mean too much of high fatty, salted dishes even when made at the best restaurants. The 'Blue Plate' is of that genre but they do find a middle ground of serving comfort food with an innovative touch. The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance but if you... More

Excellent proteins with the cali twist. Beef and mash with garlic and fennel was awesome. Carrots were over cooked though. Roast chicken was great as well. A little trendy-feeling, but welcome to modern SF!

A foodie heaven. The food here is the star! Staff are knowledgable, helpful, know their stuff and are proud of the place. Atmosphere is comfy and homely. You can see the range of offerings on the website. I never thought I would rave about macaroni cheese...... yummmo. The fried chicken is moist and justly famous. The meatloaf is so light... More

Guess I am writing home about it, but there's not a whole lot to say. The menu was very limited. Maybe 8 choices in total, many of which did not suit my very traditional palate. Since I am not a big fan of braised rabbit and gnoche and couldn't find much on the menu to excite me, I went with... More

Make reservations in advance though because it's popular and fairly small. If you like to see the chefs in action, sit at the bar or in the front room. I find it too distracting and I can't hear across the table. I prefer to sit up in the back, which is only slightly less noisy. The far back garden view... More

I have to admit, the name deceived me at first. My inner-snooty-foodie wanted to bypass this place as being a little too basic for a date night out. One glance at the menu quickly put me in my place...I was instantly wowed. "Smoked pork belly and seared albacore coriander, blood orange, aioli, green onion" What?! Yes, please. The food that...
