Neighborhood bistro, feel like a local

Had a wonderful light lunch here on Mother's Day. A limited menu, but each dish was beautifully executed. The poached eggs were perfect. Salad greens and vinaigrette were fresh and perfectly balanced. The serving sizes were also just right- not a gargantuan pile of food, but a thoughtfully presented and carefully prepared meal. Reasonably priced, with good to very good food. Easy parking nearby or 1 block from the Lombard bus line. Have been there several times and always enjoy it. Also like if for breakfast on weekends. Take the Lombard bus, get off, eat then get back on and go to the Golden Gate bridge, and walk across. On Tuesday they have a... More

Out of the way but worth the cab ride. Mostly savvy locals. Tight seating, so noise is an issue. If u speak some French, it would help. On-line menu does not represent many specials. Service attentive despite being full. Desserts are ample and 3 we ordered all excellent; strawberries in syrup with balsamic vinegar and pepper were shockingly good.

A great spot for a romantic dinner. In nice weather you can dine on the outdoor patio. A very European vibe with good service and excellent French Bistro-style food.

After watching "Check Please Bay Area" my wife and I who love Paris and love French food drove 1 hour to have dinner at Baker Street Bistro. The place is cute and the staff is wonderful. Owner, David, was unfortunately not there that night. Escargot was great except that the snail itself was lukewarm almost cold inside the hot melted... More

One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Excellent food and great staff. The ambiance is wonderful and the decor is very rustic and fun. A fantastic place to have brunch or meet up with friends. I recommend the moules and the eggs Benedict.

What a gem of a place. Small storefront place tucked into a quiet neighborhood in San Francisco. Went with another couple and had a marvelous time. Never rushed, we spent two hours eating drinking and catching up. The waitress was helpful and courteous. I had the mussels in wine sauce, a house specialty. The pile of mussels was huge and... Again, in the Presido area around the corner from our hotel we found the Baker Street Bistro. The service and food were great. The waitress was very knowledgable and suggested a great white wine for our meal. It was a little pricey however it was well worth the cost. After a disappointing lunch at Fishermen's Wharf we were very pleased... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
