Enjoyable

Had a pretty good meal at Mezes. We only had small plates. We started with the Pikilia- spread trio/ tzatziki/ roasted eggplant/ pink caviar/ homemade grilled pita; the eggplant was especially delicious. We also ordered the mussels cooked with onions/ creamy Assyrtiko white wine & ouzo sauce... read more

Went to Mezes last night with a few friends and I'd forgotten how much I loved this place! It had been several years since our last visit because it's in the Marina and we live on the other side of town (poor excuse I know). Nonetheless I highly recommend you trying it if you enjoy authentic Greek food. I'm not... More

The service was friendly, the restaurant comfortable and the food delicious. One of a number of good food choices along Chestnut street.

It is the food and service. Our server helped us with the food and wine selections for a great dining experience. We liked the spanakopita, fried calamari, fakes, and the Arni Youvetsi (lamb shank), which was excellent. We were one of the first guests seated at 5:30pm, but by 7pm it was full, so reservations suggested.

San Fran suffers from a dearth of Greek restaurants and Mezes fills the void in the Marina district. Smallish venue, minimalist setting with authentic Greek food. Service was also friendly.

A small gem on Chestnut Street. A wide selection of Greek food for very reasonable prices. Very attentive service. Suppose you'd have to the ambiance is minimal.

Visiting San Francisco with friends who had previously lived locally, we were so fortunate to be introduced to this wonderful restaurant; which set ta very high bar by which other SF restaurants would be judged... We ate from a mouth-watering variety of mezes and appetisers on the menu, and from the yummy suggestions made by the very attentive and professional... More

We both love Greek Food so when we found this restaurant on our first night in San Francisco we went in full of eager anticipation. Sadly the food did not live up to our expectations. We thought that whoever cooked the food took NO care whatsoever in the presented dishes. Having worked over 25 years in the Restaurant industry we... More

Dined here mid week, party of 3 Excellent meal all around. Our daughter lives close by, dines here often, knows the menu well, and made all our selections. We are vegetarians, and the menu had a multitude of choices, all outstanding. Service was personable and spot on, including wine recommendation from our server. Portions were ample and delicious., Highly recommended.

Had a memorable meal here with colleagues while at a conference - absolutely outstanding food and service. The spanakopita was some of the best I've ever had, the seafood dishes fantastic, the various kebabs well cooked and tasty, and the service top shelf. And the wine selection was diverse. It's tucked away along a restaurant-heavy stretch in the Marina District,... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
