I moved to San Francisco from the East Coast 19 years ago at the age of 22, and have been a vegetarian since I was 4. Living on the West Coast, it's easy to take for granted all of the amazing food out here. I've watched restaurants come and go, but have always come back to Shrangi-La; it's almost like... More

yum yum yum! The best tempura and a huge choice of vegetarian/vegan dishes. The people there are also the nicest, caring staff who make you feel at home and comfortable. That it's kosher too is an added bonus! Try the fried bananas at the end for a decadent treat. The prices are great..you can get a few dishes without ruining... More

I keep kosher and am also very into vegan food so this was perfect. My mom and I started with spring rolls, which were great. I ordered the tofu balls with broccoli and my mom got the sweet and sour spare ribs and they were both delicious! The sauce really added to it as well. Although a small, "dated" place,... More

We were visiting San Francisco today and found the Shangri-La by searching online for a vegetarian Chinese restaurant. We were given wonderful and fast service and the food was delicious!! We will definitely come back when we visit the city again!

I've been a regular customer to this great restaurant for the last 20 years. I was living 'round the block and ordered several times a week. I was mostly vegetarian (no red meat) still eating some fish, eggs, etc. I always like their food and the large selection on their menu. For the last few years I have moved away... More

Awesome family restaurant. All Vegan/Vegetarian/Kosher, even voted best Kosher food in SF!!!! The food is great and very affordable, any entree will serve 2 people. I will say that Veggie Heaven in Teaneck, NJ is better, but this was good. I would avoid any of the "beef" items, as Seitan does not do beef well. The Hot and Sour soup... More

Charming little restaurant run by a husband and wife. Decor is definitely dated, but don't let this put you off. Food is excellent and fresh. The service is warm and friendly. Obviously this is a vegetarian restaurant, but the selection of food is amazing and there is something for everyone.

Shangri-La is a cozy Chinese Buddhist restaurant on Irving Street that serves consistently good veg food at good prices. This small, informal restaurant has excellent hot-and-sour soup as well as delicious dumplings and tasty twice-fried tofu. The cold noodles are also really good. Not everything here is great, but enough of it is good. Also, for those who may be... More

We keep kosher at home but eat vegetarian on the road. However, a trip to San Fran isn't complete without a meal at Shangri-La. Seriously. Love this place. The food is tasty and not too salty. Portions are generous. The meal always comes with an appetizer of some lightly pickled veggies. The staff is really nice and helpful (they gave... More
