Turkish cuisine in the Tenderloin

I've traveled to Turkey a couple of times and I love this place! The cuisine is authentic and the wait staff is very nice! This is my go-to place when I am craving lamb chops. It is reasonably priced, located in the Tenderloin, and it's not high on atmosphere. If you are okay with all of that, you... read more

An accidental find, I was visiting SF for a conference and my girlfriend and I walked into here ( she is a Vegan ) because it was close to our hotel. The atmosphere was friendly, the bill more than reasonable. While not haute cuisine (we didn't sniff the cork or sample the wine before drinking a very fine chianti, and... More

Some of the best Turkish Food I've had outside of Turkey. Everything was perfectly prepared and the tastes and presentations were absolutely authentic. The service was friendly and attentive; they didn't even laugh at my feeble attempts to remember my Turkish from 40 years ago. Not much on atmosphere, just a typical neighborhood place with great food.

On a recent trip to San Francisco, I stumbled on this nice little Turkish restaurant. Having been spoiled many years ago with awesome Turkish food in Alice Springs Australia, my expections were high. I ordered the Lamb Shish. The server brought out some pide bread to start the meal. The lamb was cooked perfectly and had the wonderful red bell... More

Authentic, colorful, no-frills Turkish food that I keep going back to over and over ! Don't go here for a nice setting and surrounding. In fact, this hole-in-the-wall eatery is in a rough area of SF downtown but the quality and authenticity is second to none. We discovered this place accidentally while driving in SF and have been back there... More

I have been to this restaurant about times, food is always delicious. Always been there at off hours when not crowded. Always fed too much and eat it anyhow because its so delicious. But this time at 8:30 on a Sunday was a letdown. They said hello and gave a menu and I ordered the special on the board, I... More

We always stop here when in the city. The food is authentic and the service wonderful. The neighborhood s not as scary as it looks. Give this place a try.

A La Turca is not fancy. It's a neighborhood joint with authentic home-style Turkish food. Great grilled meats, nice fresh vegetables, Efes beer--and you can easily get out for less than $20 person.

This is a whole-in-the- wall and location borders Tenderloin which does not look very tempting to the tourist...though it is safer that it may look! They have a variety of Turkish dishes - try pide, a Turkish pizza, crusty and filled with vegetable and/or meat, cheese, etc. They also serve the traditional skewers, donner, etc - everything comes with a... This was a real find. The mixed appetizer platter and the iskender kebab with chicken (a new combo for me) were both terrific. Friendly service and modestly priced wines. The decor is nothing fancy, but the mural of Turkish motifs is charming. We enjoyed it so much we returned for Sunday dinner when the special is manti, small lamb-filled dumplings... More
